Ok, so I watched "Sweeney Todd: Demon Barber of Fleet Street" last night. I kinda fell in love with it, especially the song "Johanna". Don't know why but the thought of two young people falling in love when their only connection is a window was appealing. I loved Anthony's unwilling-ness to give up on Johanna and her beauty, and her quiet need to be with someone who was not terribly creepy.
Yeah, so fast-forward to this morning, I was painting in my room and started to wash my brush in the bathroom as I finished. For some reason, I thought of Anthony and started to sing a tune I thought would've fit his thoughts when he spotted Johanna. I liked the tune I had created and wrote it down.
“Oh, such a site to see
A man newly in love, like me
Never thought
Never expected
Never pondered
Never wondered
Of her
Chorus: Oh, never thought I’d fall in love in London
Never thought I’d fall in love today
Never thought I’d fall in love in London no how, no way
(Chorus again)
Except
On this day
I met her and fell
Deeper and deeper into her spell
She changed my ways
She changed my views and more important of this to find
She finally changed my mind
(Chorus x2)
But today
I fell.”
I have never written a song before and haven't written poetry in a long while but I just loved this little whimsical tune so much that I had to write it.
