It's a long one... get ready.

First of all, Steve's Dad passed away March 29th. It was heartbreaking to say the least. Of course it happened on a week when I had a huge journalism story due, an exam, two papers due, and had to give two presentations. After much stress and lots of talking with my profs though, I changed some things in my sched and got everything done so I could be home with Steve Tuesday night and Wednesday.

I didn't get to the funeral home until late Tuesday night, which I felt really bad about, but there was no way for me to get home earlier. After the visiting, I went over to Steve's house with AJ and Benji and we all just chilled til like 2am. It was one of those nights where you just sit there and are like "yeah, this is what life is all about." AJ and Steve played guitar all night, singing the occasional songs and Benji joined in on the singing every once in a while too. Mostly, I just sat on the "love seat" with Benji and made fun of Steve and AJ for being a married couple. Plus, Benji kept telling me lots of stories about life in Ireland, which was cool.

I woke up exhausted on Wednesday and went to the funeral. It was a nice service with lots of people. I felt so bad for Mrs. M and Steve though, I can't even imagine what it's like. After the funeral, I went to the cemetery with AJ and Benji in the longest procession ever. It's great how much those boys have been with Steve during everything. It makes me happy to know we have such amazing friends. After the service at the cemetery, we headed to lunch, which was a happy time to relax. It was a gorgeous day, and obviously one of celebration now that Mr. M doesn't have to suffer anymore and he can go to the giant party in the sky.

This might sound terrible to say, but I actually had a lot of fun when I came home those two days. Steve, AJ, and Benji are a lot of fun to be around and it was just a nice time. I laughed nonstop and obviously I wish it could have been under better circumstances that we were all together, but it was just... good.

I was soooooooooooo tired for the rest of the week/stressed about all the stuff I still had to get in to my profs. So, OF COURSE, I got sick. I finally got to go to urgent care today where I walked in and said "Hi. I have bronchitis and I have to go to class soon." They told me someone would be with me shortly. Two and a half hours later, I finally get to see a doctor, who listens to my lungs for like a minute, then tells me I have bronchitis and gives me some prescriptions. Thank you for wasting my day.

This weekend was CedarFest. CedarFest is a tradition that was banned in the 80s cause it always turned into a semi-riot. It's where everyone just has a giant block party in Cedar Village and it's pretty cool. I wasn't going to go, on account of the fact that I felt like the sickest person ever in my bed, but then it was sooooooooo nice out and I couldn't pass up the first CedarFest in 20 years, so I went. I felt really bad all day, cause I had told Bridget not to come visit anymore cause of how sick I was, but then I eventually went out anyway.

CedarFest was really cool while I was there though. It was a gorgeous day and everyone was just outside like tailgating, but better? It was just really chill and fun. I had a little too much fun though and ended up taking myself home about 10 or 11pm, haha. A riot did ensue, but I was not present. I'm kinda sad I missed it, cause all my friends were watching it from their porch, but I'm not too sad about missing the tear gas. I probably would have died considering I have bronchitis and tear gas in my lungs just would have been an all-around bad situation.

We made the national news though and a lot of people are mad about the reputation it gives MSU. I kinda say whatever. All the news stations are saying that only half the arrests were MSU students, so obviously it wasn't all us. I was pissed about the media coverage though. Like one of my friends was interviewed by the Lansing State Journal and it said he was there during the riot and then his roommate got arrested and then he tried to get him out the next morning and stuff, but that's not what happened at all. My friend got an MIP for having a beer on the sidewalk at like 9pm and was taken to jail for no reason. His roommate went home immediately after, NOT when the riot started. Then the cops held my friend for 18 hours with no food or water, wouldn't let him make a phone call, and changed bail to cash only so he couldn't bail himself out. Stupid. Then when his roommate went to go get him the next day, he had to wait from 11am-5pm to get him out and my other friend didn't even know his roommate was there the whole time trying to get him out. I dunno. I feel like the police kinda asked for it to happen. Yeah, the crowd got out of control, but part of that is because the police spent all week talking about how they knew a riot would happen and they had tear gas ready. So then everyone was like "wooooo... a riot's gonna happen! let's go! let's go get tear gassed!" and wa-bam, it happened. You lose.

If you want to see the insanity, type "CedarFest" or "Cedar Fest" in YouTube and watch some videos... it basically looks like a war zone.

Apparently they're trying to charge anyone they see in videos or talking about it on Facebook though, which is pretty lame. If you get charged, you get expelled from all public universities in Michigan for participating in a riot.

So that's pretty much all that's new with me.
I'm going to Chicago this weekend, woooooooooo!!!!!
