Before she met Mow (story)

She waited, in the exact spot he told her to meet in. Her ears picked up on the sounds of bugs whizzing overhead, tapping themselves gently into the streetlight. Her natural reaction was to cringe a bit at the random zaps signaling their demise. Vibrant blue eyes poured over her surroundings as she waited trying her best not to impatiently look at the birthday present on her wrist. Standing like this alone in the alley behind her wretched job brought back memories of before she was allowed into the Velvet Curtain. Without thinking she started to tap her red pumps against the concrete rhythmically, fidgeting with her packed bags.

Three hours ended up passing before she released a heavy sigh in defeat. Dragging her bags, herself, and her hopes for a new life back inside the current situation that was draining her youth. At the backdoor Bennie the bouncer opened it for her and held it while she came in. Long locks of shiny red hair draped over her shoulder as she passed not making eye contact. There was a 'tisk tisk' of pity behind her and in front the plum colored walls lined with ladies to snicker at her walk of shame back to her room. It wasn't like she had broadcast that she was leaving, but gossip spread fast when that was all cackling hens had for amusement.

Keeping her eyes trained on the door it seemed like the walk way stretched in front of her and she hastened her pace. Heels clicking, racing almost while she barreled down clearing her path of any nay sayers, leaving them with only the sound of an angry slammed door in her wake. The feeling in her chest swelled up, trapping the air in her throat unrelenting as she crumpled to the floor covering her face in her hands. In a fit of rage she shoved at her luggage and wailed soundlessly feeling like the fool she was. Old habits of anxiety began to come into play as she chewed on her bottom lip making it red in no time.

'He stood me up,' her mind replayed the conversation that they had one day earlier. Her head snapped up in shock at the sound of loud knocking to her bedroom door. 'It has to be him,' her mind shouted prompting her to hop up smoothing out her powder blue dress then throw back the door.
