1. The thing that you're looking for is where you least expect it, or is just right under your nose.
- I was itching to play Guitar Hero III - Legends of Rock for weeks (but haven't found time to until yesterday), but I couldn't find the CD anywhere. I looked for it in kuya's CD cases (because he piles them all up in Abba or GTA cases) and among piles of DVDs on top of the TV. I kept thinking that it might be inside the Xbox but I said to myself that that was too easy, and anyway no one has played that game for weeks (as far as I know). So I decided to stop searching for it and just watch TV, when lo and behold, I turned it on only to see the main menu of GH III on the screen. Figures (-_-') (also, follow your gut instincts :D). Still haven't finished the Hard level though (which continues to be my primary goal of playing GH III) *sighs*
2. Make every second count
- I've learned just last wednesday that we'll be leaving around Feb. 24 instead of on the 1st week of March (that's almost a 2 week difference! Yikes!), and gosh I cried about 3 times the day I learned about it. Just when I've made new friends and rekindled friendships with old ones :c So I called people up, watched Baler and went to Timezone with a friend, chatted a lot, and made the most out of breaks. Even if it meant staying up as late as I possibly can, hahaha :)) (I've also splurged on a P2250 one-way ticket to Cebu, because initially I was going to stay there for one day only but I figured it would be years before I go back there)
3. Things don't always go as planned
- I was all psyched up that the Christmas/New Year celebration with my college barkada was finally going to push through last saturday when, alas, I found out that the Unilab branch of the group (Joan, Mike and Jamaine) was going to EK on the same day (and also, one of the things I want to do before I leave is go there, even if I'm with just one person only, hahaha. I'm going to miss that place - the last time I went there was in 4th year HS :P). So instead, I spent the day surfing the net, play mommy to my little brother, play GH III for a bit, and organize my books (I'll be posting them here soon, some to be given away, some to sell :D). Not really as much fun, but at least I followed number 2.
4. White cheddar is my new favorite popcorn flavor :D
- Because it still has that comforting cheesy taste and yet doesn't leave an orange tinge on your fingertips and mouth :P
5. Pictures are misleading!
- Last thursday, Kuya was assigned at Gateway. Joan, Jamaine and Mike typically eat dinner there when they come home later than usual, and as I already had a ride home I grabbed the chance to hang out with them for the first time since our failed block reunion. I remember Ben mentioning something about eating Japanese food over there so I looked for it (Jumbo Japs), and paid P201 for the Chicken Katsu (which I usually choose), coffee jelly (for dessert) and fried crabmeat/stick (because it looked so yummy in the picture). The Chicken Katsu was ok, as was the then-melted coffee jelly. But the fried crabmeat/stick was - ugh - weird and even the japanese mayo could not mask its Vietnamese spring-roll taste. Now, I like Vietnamese spring roll (we usually order it at Pho Hoa), but I was expecting it to be more appetizing and taste more like it actually contained synthetic crabmeat.
6. Sometimes life gives you little surprises :)
- So I already mentioned eating out at Gateway. What I didn't expect was to bump into most of the Psychos (Eula, Setset, Frances and Deej) that same night at the foodcourt. Eula, Set and Frances were going to watch The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (I still haven't seen it! *crycrycry*), while Deej was there to have dinner before going somewhere else. So I talked a bit with the ones on a moviedate while I stayed with Deej until about 9:30pm.
7. Petty things are not worth fighting over
- Especially if it means ruining a good friendship. :c
8. Music does soothe the nerves
- I haven't listened to the radio (not including the times when I'm inside a car) for weeks, because I lost my earphones, I figure the only songs I like are the ones in my phone, and as for my real radio I've been playing the same Matchbox 20 CD for weeks (until last week, because my aunt borrowed it). But I suddenly found my earphones on the dinner table yesterday (I wonder where it has been hiding all this time), so I plugged it into my phone and tuned in to 94.7 and 88.3. But both stations weren't playing songs that I liked so I shut the radio off and turned on the music player instead. After dinner, as I was cleaning out my drawers (gosh, I could not bear to look at the pile of tags from clothes and other items I bought last year), I decided to tune in to 88.3 once more. At first the songs they played where ones that I already have, but then they started playing ones I haven't heard in a looong time like Nickel Creek's This Side (which I usually confused with Nickelback when I was in high school, hahaha!). It was comforting to hear that song again, just when I was beginning to feel melancholic (though if you analyze the lyrics it's actually a sad song) :)
9. Being emo solves nothing and just adds to your depression
- Self-explanatory :P And anyway, who knows how many people's days have been brightened up because of your smile and sunny demeanor?
10. Get rid of things that you don't use that often, or that you don't use at all
- I'm not necessarily saying that you throw them away, except of course if they have expired, but they're better off being used by other people instead of deteriorating on your table or in your cabinet/drawer.
11. Share your blessings (practice random acts of kindness)
- Shem's from Ilocos, and when he goes on vacation he always brings each of us a bag of corn bits. I've forgotten to bring mine home, and when I do carry it with me inside the faculty room I tend to forget to bring it with me when I go back to the lab. So much so that other people have been eyeing it and salivating over it (in their thoughts of course). When I did remember to bring it with me until I reach our lab, I decided to open it and share it with those who've spent hours trying not to steal it from the random places I've absentmindedly left it at. Ahh, making people happy with a handful of corn bits does give one a temporary high, hahaha. And I also treated our ates at home to watch Ang Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat yesterday, and I think they enjoyed it (kukulitin ko pa mamayang gabi, nag-aayos ako ng kwarto nung dumating sila kagabi eh).
*the end*
