So just to let everyone know that I haven't fallen off the face of the earth: Hi, I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. Since I am faced with the prospect of killing some time (unproductively, of course) I figured I might as well give a little update.
My penultimate semester that was supposed to be really awesome is shaping to be just the opposite in some regards. [Bear with me, people, I'm going to be positive and try not to turn this into a total bitch session as 99.9% of these entries are.] Classes are okay, people are nice, I kind of have friends (gasp!) and the two day a week thing is rather nice.
Photography, however, threatens to consume my soul/sanity. I've discussed (in other words, bitched about) this at length to just about anyone that will listen, from classmates to friends to distant relations. To sum up, it is destroying my life because: no time to print/develop film, teacher is insane, grading is subjective and in no way reflects effort or bodily harm endured to produce work, must spend majority of time in darkroom or shooting pictures to have anything completed before deadlines, and must change course of life in order to accommodate the equipment rental hours and therefore be able to work. Which is why I am here now, because at the moment I can't rent any equipment even though I got up at the ass crack of dawn to be here when equipment rental opened. ARGH.
In other news, I have apparently lost my grip on reality because I decided to do a thesis project in order to possibly graduate with departmental distinction in art history. I then realized the minute I got my advisor to agree to, well, advise the project that it required a lot of work and effort. Since my motivation to basically do anything at all, academic or otherwise, is at an all time low, you can see how this presents a problem. In fact, since I met with her two weeks ago I have done exactly jack shit on it. Clearly, I have matured so much and become a responsible adult over the course of my college career.
Speaking of which, I am 98.333% done with said career, as I just confirmed with the Office of the College of Art and Architecture today. One more class and then I am out of here, bitches!! Then I will sleep for approximately a thousand years or so. That is the entirety of my post-graduation plans so far: sleep.
So, photo sucks, writing a thesis, almost done, no motivation...that's the summary of the semester so far. And that I miss everybody liek whoa, of course.
I saw Music and Lyrics at Hollywood Blvd. with the Alister last night, and it was THE BEST MOVIE EVER! I don't care if I am a total dork that can be amused with predictable romantic comedies. It was hilarious and Hugh Grant is amazing and it made me happy. Also, I love Rum Runners.
In response to Brandon's thing about reading books from a couple months ago that I don't even know if he's doing anymore because I haven't been to LJ in a million years and I am too lazy to go to his journals and check: I've finished two books so far. These aren't textbooks/required readings or books that I decided to reread because I am too lazy to go the library five minutes from my house and check out more. 2/50:
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason by Helen Fielding
The Tenth Circle by Jodi Picoult
That's it for now I guess. Now to see if I can find some articles on pre-columbian south american art which I won't because no one writes about it, yay!
p.s. - Ali, you were totally right about Hugh Grant being 47.
p.p.s. - I looked up Timothy Olyphant. I have seen him before, in Dreamcatcher of all things, and he is indeed very much the hot.
p.p.p.s. - I apologize for the profusion of commas, parentheses, slashes, run on sentences, and general insanity of this post.
