After watching them eliminate the Black Thorn, The Powers That Be decided it was time to help Angel and his friends. They sent several angels and archangels to Earth to help stop the war. Afterwards, The Powers That Be knew they owed Angel and his crew, and decided to make things right for them. The previous year of their lives were taken from their memories, and given to a young archangel to keep from an eternity. The crew was brought back together, all of them alive, and given a second chance to continue their mission against Wolfram and Hart, and other evils.
Because of their devotion to the fight, The Powers That Be decided to gift all them. Fred's gift was greater knowledge of science.
