Fangirling & odd questions!!

Now for the odd question. This is mainly directed at yami_tai and nisou as they're the English people on my flist:
I know eggs are categorised in shops by the way the hens are raised (i.e. caged, free-range etc.), but is there any way to tell the same with actual meat produce like pork etc.?
I watched a programme last night that showed a pig being killed quite brutally & the guy said that more expensive meat meant that livestock was killed more humanly. But i just wondered if there was actually any way to be certain. I don't want to pay extra, if the poor animals are still gonna be killed in the same brutal way as cheaper meat. It's horrible. I can still see the twitching... ;_;
