i like books

which i guess would explain why i was walking around with several in my purse all weekend. michael said i'm a book nerd. he's probably right.

our trip was fun. danielle and i were driving in the echo, and made it to mandeville in awesome time...then realized we had no money for the toll. so we drove around mandeville looking for a bank. actually, we found a chase really quickly...but it wasn't open and didn't have an atm- what the fuck? but anyway, we eventually got our money and made it to loyola. tara, stevadore, and i picked up a few things from our rooms, and then we went to lunch at lebanon cafe. they didn't have a lot of things that are normally on the menu, but it was very good.

the national guard people were still swarming around loyola, which was a bit weird. i think it's the first time i've ever seen more guys than girls on campus. some of them were dancing. others were walking around with large, rapid fire guns on their backs. i have a picture of one of them pulling me off iggy.

we saw michael briefly and played in the palm court for a while. then we went and spent the night at danielle's, and in the morning went down and wandered around the quarter a bit, and had some beignets at cafe du monde. i found an army humvee that i wanted to steal, but i figured it might reflect badly on the major. sadness.

then we returned to loyola, because tara and i had forgotten a few things. i went into buddig and had just gotten to my room when the fire alarm went off. so i got to take a nice jog down 11 flights of stairs. on the plus side, i got some mail that's been there since august.

we got back to spring hill around dinner time, and it was sad. even with refrigerators full of rotten food on the streets, and lots of stuff destroyed, new orleans is so much better than mobile. of course, most cities are. oh well.

on a final note, (let's say c major), i finally got my new military id, which means i can go grocery shopping at the coast guard base, which means no taxes. tha's pretty cool.
