Obama and BP
Well I have not been here in quite some time but this was one that really burns my biscuit's.
The President of the United States has now become no more than a hired thug. What he has done to BP is tantamount to extortion or piracy. We have Federal laws under EPA and half a dozen other entities in our government not to mention a Judaical system to make BP pay for damages. For the President of the United States to tell a private company "you will set up this escrow fund" and have the VP go along and tell them "you have no choice" is unheard of. This speaks to the basic fact that not many in Washington today hold our constitutional form of Government in very high regard not to mention the rule's of law.
There is a cap imposed by law of $75 million dollars currently but this administration is now being Judge Jury and Executioner. Just because we now have a tragedy that will far exceed this cap does not mean you arbitrarily change the law to met the circumstance. This is what starts anarchy; failure to follow the rules of law that have been established. What's next if this is allowed to progress who will be next on the hit parade; common citizens, you bet it can happen. This is what occurred in Nazi Germany before WWII to the German people. They let their government have a free rein of power with no oversight, the people did not stand up and say what the hell are you doing. If we are not careful, we will find ourselves wondering where our freedoms have gone.
To quote Ben Franklin "a man who will trade his freedom for security deserves neither freedom nor security". We need to pay attention to how Obama is treating BP because you could be next.
I know some that read this will not agree in any fashion with my thought so what. What is right is not always easy for some to accept. I do not want to live in a society that has no understanding of the rules of law and these same rules need to be applied to everyone not one set for this group and another set for a different group.
