worth checking out: criterion collection dvd design

here's a blog by one of the designers for the criterion collection, a dvd publishing company dedicated to producing the very best dvd editions of the greatest films from around the world. i've never actually owned any of their releases, but i've always wanted a lot of the titles on their catalog. their releases are always topnotch with tons of features and commentaries. and awesome, awesome design work on the packaging and menus, which is why this blog is of particular interest.
mr. skillman details the design process for a few of their newer releases, and i have to say, i'm really quite jealous. elegance and clarity should always win over complexity and bombast. and to work with material like that would be a dream come true for me. as an aside, it's great to see comic book artists like xamie hernandez, mike allred and bill seinkiewicz working on stuff like this.
there's a bunch of other stuff there that's worth giving a look. but i just love these dvds!
