There is no fixed set of rules for that but I believe everybody know in their heart what makes a gentleman a gentleman...
Either I am treated too much like a buddy or I am disregarded..

Do I look that strong-willed?
I may not be as strong-minded as everybody think.
I may not be as forgiving as everybody assume.
I may not be able to tolerate criticism as much as everybody believe.
