Hello my lovelies!!!
It's been a while. Ngl, I got a bad case of the laziness which is why I haven't been around the past few weeks. Also, I think I need to be smarter about managing my time. But that's another story.
So last Sunday was my friends' wedding. It was simple and very beautiful. I love how dapper the grooms were. My sister and I teared up a bit all throughout the ceremony. And I don't know if this is commonly done nowadays, but I really liked that they incorporated a
Unity Sand Ceremony. It was all so lovely.
Funnily enough, my sister and I sat at the same table where the parents of another friend were also seated. I've been friends with him and his wife for ten years now but after talking with his mom for a whole night, I can now say I know more about him than I needed to know. Apparently, before he was born, his mother wanted another baby girl. When he turned out to be a boy, she wasn't exactly disappointed. She did, however, dress him up in girl clothes and took lots of pictures. I am now armed with enough leverage to blackmail him! Bwahahaha!!! But not really because he's a big brother to me and my sister.
The reception also had an open bar so it was only natural that by the end of it, everyone who had indulged was wasted. One woman even fell down while dancing after she had too much booze. Seriously, I think I saw just about all types of drunks at that reception. My friend's sister-in-law, who just turned 21 this year, was the sleepy drunk. At first, she was dancing her heart out on the dance floor. But a couple of minutes later, she was slumped down on a table. Her family had to take her outside to walk it off because she was so pissed. And then there was her cousin-in-law, a really huge guy and a loud drunk. He was so loud talkative and belligerent the moment he got a hold of a drink. Really not attractive, being pissed out of your mind. Good thing, my sister, another friend and I only had a flute of champagne and stuck to iced tea all night long. By the end of the evening, we even managed to convert my friend's mom's boyfriend into a fan too.
The grooms also manipulated us to go back to their house for an after party. Actually, it was more a sobering up after party because they served some arroz caldo (chicken and rice porridge). By 11 PM though, we had to call it a night since it had been a long day and the grooms were leaving for Napa Valley the next day.
All in all, it was a fun night! Now I'm looking forward to my best friend's sister's baby shower. That reminds me. I have to start knitting the baby blanket.
Before I go, I leave you some wonderful links:
Typhoon Haiyan Before and After Images Of Tacloban - I'm sure everyone knows about what happened to the Philippines and the devastation that Typhoon Haiyan (a.k.a. Yolanda) left in its wake. You'd have to be living under the rock not to know considering the almost round the clock coverage of it by local and international news outlets. I guess that's a blessing since a lot of international aid has been pouring in. Makes me happy that the victims are, (or in some cases will be), getting the help they need. The images on this article are just so saddening.
Pre-schooler donates piggybank savings to typhoon Haiyan victims - Gestures like this are just so touching. And to come from a boy as young as he is, even more so. Then again, maybe I shouldn't be surprised. My 7 year old cousin, who lives in San Diego and who has never been to the Philippines, actually asked his teacher if they could send donations to the typhoon victims without anyone prompting him. So heartwarming.
Atheists Show Snobby Christian Soup Kitchen How To Actually Be Good People - Just because athiests don't believe in God or any diety, doesn't lessen the goodness of their hearts.
This 'Super-Sized' Random Act Of Kindness Is Sure To Brighten Your Day - It's amazing that they manage to create a 'pay it forward' situation here. Pretty cool.
What Lululemon Could Learn From Abercrombie About Fat Shaming - UGH! Another company that thinks fat shaming is okay. I'm just amused that Abercrombie is finally being forced to cater to the people who think they don't 'belong' in their clothes. Not that that would make me want to buy clothes from that story anyway.
How Can A White Supremacist Be 14 Percent Sub-Saharan African? - How ironic! What a dumbass!
This is the only chart you need about the size of science fiction spaceships - Pretty cool, especially in it's entirety.
Awesome Southern Ladies Fighting For Marriage Equality in their Own Way - This made me cry. These ladies are just too awesome for words. I hope they win the fight to bring marriage equality to N.C.
'Kids React To Gay Marriage' In New Video From The Fine Brothers - Faith in humanity restored. I love that all these kids (from California) are so open minded. Well, except for that one kid who looks like a Romulan (I am going to hell for that). But that could probably be attributed to the fact that he is pretty young and maybe his parents' view on homosexuality. It's okay though. He'll be able to think for himself once he grows older. The rest though are such great kids. If my future kids turn out to be half as smart as these guys, then I will consider it a job well done.
20 Times The Cast Of “Sleepy Hollow” Proved They Are Utterly Adorable - Can this cast get any cuter? Orlando Jones is also the best. He has taken the art of fangirling to a whole new level. Check out his
tumblr!!!
San Francisco Turned into Gotham City for Make a Wish BatKid - And this is why I love San Francisco. When I heard about this on the news on Thursday night, I was so excited. It seriously made me cry. And now, having seen most of the video, I just want to give the little boy and the whole city of San Francisco the biggest hug ever!!!!
Hope everyone has a good weekend!!! ♥ ♥ ♥
