In one word: AWESOME!!!!!!!
Those guys know how to put on a show. Everyone, well, everyone except for the people in front of us, that is had a great time. By the second or third song, we were all standing and singing along with the cast.
What did suck was the fact that I forgot to bring my camera and could only take pictures with my phone, so I do apologize for the crappy ones which will litter this entry. Also sucky were the people in front of us who were so lifeless and unenthusiastic all throughout the concert. Way to suck the fun out of the massive amphitheater! But enough about them....
I'm not really good with recapping so please bear with me.
So the concert was started off by the gravity-defying dancers of
LXD, the dance troupe Harry Shum Jr. is a part of. Harry was also the last member to strut his stuff, with his bit about the dancing shoes. After the LXD's performance, a short intermission followed. Some kids a couple of rows behind us were a little bit impatient and started to chant "We want Glee" a couple of times, but they petered out after a while.
Before the main act started, a couple of Cheerios came out and distributed, of all things, barf bags...
Then Sue (for the sake of consistency, I'm going to refer to their characters... it makes things easier, lol) came on the big screen to tell everyone that we're going to need the bags in case we get sick of the cast's performance. Will interrupted her diatribe and then the cast came out singing "Don't Stop Believing" which was followed by "My Life Would Suck Without You" and then "Push It".
Afterwards, the curtains came down and Brittany came out and declared that she's confused about something and interacted with Mr. Shu on the screen. She also revealed that she's made out with the stagehands (I think) backstage. Soooo adorable...
And then the opening bars of "Don't Rain On My Parade" came on. The left side of the theater, near where we were seated, was where Rachel came out of. Too bad we were a little ways away so I couldn't take any pictures of her making her way to the stage. Tina, Quinn, Santana and Matt also passed by on the right side of our section to also get to the stage. They all looked great!!!
Then the curtain came up and the "classroom" set emerged. Mercedes sang "Beautiful" and then Puck, with guitar in tow sang "Sweet Caroline", with Finn playing the drums. They also used the big screens ala karaoke, to let everyone sing along with Puck.
These were followed by "The Boy is Mine", with Mercedes and Santana vying for Puck's attention. They did hug each other afterwards and then both of them and Puck sang "The Lady is a Tramp". Santana really has a powerful voice (considering this was live). Such a shame she's so underused in the show.
Next was "Defying Gravity" with Kurt and Rachel, which ended with them holding hands, something Mercedes wasn't too happy about. Kurt's car then came out on stage and Mercedes sang "Bust Your Windows". That performance was pretty awesome. She even managed to get inside the car, climb on top of it and then slide down the windshield and off the hood.
The next song number was "Bad Romance" and it was glorious!!!! Their costumes were soo bizaare. I can't wait for the next episode where they perform this song!!!!!
Then it was Artie's turn in the spotlight with "Dancing with Myself", but not really because he had Brittany and Matt with him, lol! This was followed by the mash-ups "It's My Life/Confessions Pt. II" and "Halo/Walking On Sunshine".
And then Sue and Will came on again to introduce Vocal Adrenaline and they performed well, technically only danced to Rehab and Mercy.
The curtain came down and Brittany came out once again, this time with Kurt in tow. She started to put her moves on him by complimenting his baby soft hands. This terrified him so much that he ran off stage. Then Brittany revealed to everyone that one day, she's going to have Kurt all to herself and that we can count on it. The only problem was she "can't count"!!!! Oh Brittany, you're the absolute BEST!!!!
"JUMP" was the next number and they brought out trampolines, dressed up as mattresses, for everyone to jump on. It looked so fun!!!
The next songs, "Faithfully" and "Any Way You Want It", I think, are the songs they'll be singing for the Regionals. I am really looking forward to that episode because Finn and Rachel singing "Faithfully" was just sooooo ♥!!!!! This was followed by "Like a Prayer" with the people from Vocal Adrenaline standing in as the choir, lol!
And then Rachel came out to introduce her 'bestfriend' Jesse and they sang "Hello".... Dang, Jonathan Groff looked so good!!!! Apparently, he only made a special appearance in the tour here in LA. I don't know if he's going to be in Chicago and New York, but he was certainly not in Phoenix.
They then ended the show with "True Colors" and "Somebody to Love".
They also launched confetti at the end of the performance. I only mention this because I saw a little girl filling up her barf bag with confetti. SOOOO ADORABLE!!!!
All in all, it was an excellent show and you could tell the stars were doing their best to give us one. Consider this one a satisfied customer!!!! I wouldn't hesitate to go if they put on another concert tour next year. Sooo glad that FOX has renewed them for a third season!!!!
