The intellectual banter that two mathematicians can derive while playing off each others' anal retentive thought-training would be nothing short of comic genius, should one person come up with it on one's own. As it is, it's nothing more than idle chatter of the third kind.
Bollo's may be my place for a good pastry still, but She-Sha runs the risk of making me an all-day regular, becoming my favorite shop to "hang out" at, if what i do at coffee shops can in fairness be so described.
Today was full of promise until i actually sat down to program. Several attempts at pushing the limits of my data using the
Maths Department server ended in tragedy ("too much memory") and have led me to suspect that i'll get no more from using hobbes than i would using my own laptop except the convenience of not running
Macaulay 2 all the bloody time. My accomplishment is that i "merely" need to program the device to find a top rc-graph and generate its connected component; this was a pipe dream a month ago. But it's only about time.
Interesting observation about the very recognizable sound of
Gotan Project: I first heard and loved some tracks from
La Revancha del Tango in a café in Northampton; i subsequently noticed the same tracks at coffee shops in Berkeley, Valparaíso, and (finally) Blacksburg. So the popular scene goes.
Current goal: Work through the
Sage tutorial before my advisor gets back, and act nonchalant about it when he asks if i'm any more familiar with the language.
