Last week Kim and I had a fun li'l date night right here in EA.
First we went to Touka, our go-to Asian restaurant ever since
Panda Buffet closed, and you know somepin? I think I like Touka better now anyway. Excellent food, reasonable prices, and consistent quality. In an ideal world we would have both Touka and Panda Buffet, but here we are.
I always get the hibachi chicken dinner because I love it, and so I never bother looking at the rest of the menu. But this time I did look at the menu, and you'll never guess what else they have! That's right--ramen, the food I am strangely fixated on lately.
Funny thing, though: I guess what I've always thought of as "ramen"--i.e., wiggly noodles in broth--is more accurately called "ramen soup." Because, of course, ramen is just a type of noodle, and you can eat it however you want. So I was kind of surprised when I got this:
Looks a little more like what I would call lo mein, but whatever. It was really good! And yes, I brought my own sticks.
After, we walked over to Knox--Knox Farm State Park, that is. Such an underappreciated-by-me kind of place. And it's practically right across the street from my school!
I did start taking the
secret way through the south end of the park on my lunchtime walks, but I hardly ever visit the REAL park. It's quite nice.
Then we walked over to Kone King. It was really crowded and there was no place to sit down with our ice cream, so we walked around looking for a bench. You'll never guess where we found one: the parking lot of Tops Friendly Markets. I forgot to take a picture, but I have to show you. Here it is on Google Maps:
In the category of strange, unimportant things I quietly appreciate, under the B's, you will find "benches nobody asked for." It's really fun and interesting to notice benches in places where they will never get used in a hundred-million years. This pair, for example. Who's going to be just hoofing it through the Grey Street plaza and think, "you know what I could use right now is a nice sit." I dunno, maybe those weirdos passing out religious tracts by the Bank of America ATM. And also Kim and me with our ice cream cones that night.
And that is all I have to say about that.
