Ash Wednesday.

Last night was an adventure. Mom dropped me off at the shop to pick up my truck, whose brakes had been repaired. On the way home, I smelled something a little hot, but I assumed it was someone else on the road, since my gauges were all fine. When I got home, however, there was smoke billowing out of the back of my truck, and a horrible burned rubber smell. Yeah. The new brakes. So Dad's taking care of the truck today. Yay. I'm in no-vehicle hell.

Brad and I had planned to go to Enoch's for Fat Tuesday dinner (2-for-1 burgers), but when we got there they were closed. Odd. So we headed to Gabbeaux's (the same place we ate Friday night) for beer and po-boys. Yummm. And bread pudding with rum sauce. I was excited. After that, Brad was kind enough to take me by the grocery store to get some food for the apartment. I'd been trying to get to the grocery store all weekend, but it was difficult without a vehicle.

This morning, James and I woke up early and headed to St. Mark's for the Ash Wednesday thing at 7am. I have ashes. Woo. Then we went to IHOP for breakfast, and then he dropped me off at work.

Lent. Not the stuff in your bellybutton. I'm wearing ashes on my forehead today. Reminds me of my own mortality. I'm not giving up anything for Lent this year, but I'm adding something. I'm going to the Wednesday prayer breakfasts at the church during Lent, which translates into losing about 3 hours of sleep on Wednesday morning, since I don't have class till 10am. I dunno. Maybe it's not enough, but that's what I've got.

Choir rehearsal and Ash Wednesday service tonight. School tomorrow. Yuck.
