BACKGROUND: Naminé has no knowledge of her birthplace or family history. Before the age of 12, her memory is a blank. Since discovering her power for manipulating memories, she suspects that she may have in fact caused her own amnesia, but why, she couldn't guess. All she has in her memory from before age 12 is her own name, Naminé, and a different name, Kairi.
For as long as she can remember, Naminé has been the ward of a mysterious mutant syndicate called, simply, the Organization. When she was young, Naminé had little understanding of what they did, but as years past she came to realize they were using their powers--and hers--to commit crimes. Although Naminé was treated well by the Organization, she was not privy to their plans or decisions, and the price of their care for her was that she use her powers as the Organization dictated. Naturally, she was not given a choice in the matter.
Naminé hated using her power in hurtful ways--hated using it at all, in fact, believing that it was wrong to manipulate people's minds and memories. At age 15 she escaped the Organization with the help of one of its members, Axel Pyres, who had looked after her during her time there. She turned herself into police custody, telling them of her amnesia, but nothing of the Organization. The police turned her over into foster care as a ward of the state. When it was discovered that she was a mutant, her baffled social workers unloaded her onto the Xavier Institute.
PERSONALITY: Exceedingly quiet and soft-spoken, Naminé gives an impression of shyness and submissiveness nearly all the time. She is indeed shy, particularly around strangers; while Naminé is never unkind, large or possibly threatening people cause her to retreat into a timid shell. However, she responds well to friendliness and kindness, and genuinely cares about other people. She hates to see others around her hurt as much as she hates to be hurt herself--especially when she is the one hurting them. She has her own set of morals, and though she doesn't think of herself as brave, she does have the courage to follow them even when it could get her in trouble. Naminé seems to be quite submissive, and in some situations she certainly can be--she spent much of her remembered life in the care of people who had power over her and could have harmed her if she disobeyed them. While with the Organization, Naminé went along with their plans despite knowing that they were wrong, and often blamed herself harshly for her part, even though she was hardly in a position to disobey. However, Naminé occasionally shows surprising strength, defying authority for the sake of helping those she wants to help and choosing to do what she believes is morally right.
APPEARANCE: Small, pale, and very thin, Naminé appears to be quite a fragile creature. She stands barely 5'0", with long, slender legs for her height and very slight curves. Her face is pretty and heart-shaped, with large, pale, blue-gray eyes. Her hair is a light blonde color and falls in soft layers to her shoulders, with a few feathery strands of hair covering her forehead. She typically wears a short white dress and a pair of flip-flop sandals.
POWERS: Naminé has the ability to manipulate memories to an intimidating extent. She can erase memories or parts of them, and even create whole new memories to convince the unsuspecting victim that they've done something they never did, know someone they never met, been somewhere they never went, etc. It's usually not detected on the part of the victim. Naminé hates this power, and will refuse to use it unless she absolutely must.
