Recreation of Alexis' thoughts during the AP Art History Exam:
......what the FUCK!? what DATE was that painting done!? how the HELL should i know !? i know when it was done but not WHEN it was done! 1830s? 1840s?... 1830s. No wait. 1850s.
..... what artistic movement was---oh shit. was it dadaism? no, maybe surrealism. or abstract-impressionism? well, the colors are more like romanticism. DAMN.
.....oh my god. ive seen that before. now what the hell is it called. oh i should have paid attention last week in class. oh whyyyy didnt i pay attention that day!?
.....architect of this building? first of all, what IS that building. i dont know. lets move on. architect....architect....NOT burnham, NOT burnham. Sullivan? YES!
......Gainesy, sit DOWN.
......those slide projectors are annoying the HELL out of me. stop BUZZING, damnit!!
.....NO ONE CARES ABOUT AFRICAN ART, STOP ASKING ME QUESTIONS ABOUT IT. THANKS.
...... ok. 'pick two works that exhibit natural motifs, one from western civilization and one from beyond western tradition, and explain why and how the artists used these motifs.' oh, Christ. Let's go with..... the animal interlace predominant in Hiberno-Saxon art. Wait. Shit, thats Western tradition. What about china? they liked that nature stuff. Hmmm but i dont know any titles of works. Japan? Nah, they liked bridges and women and shit. THINK, alexis, THIIIINK. Egypt? Egypt is good. Save that idea. Prehistoric times? Yes thats a definite possibility, but no one knows WHY they used those motifs. Ok, Egypt it is. Let's go for the vague wording approach and hope they overlook the fact that i do not name any specific works. Lotus flower, papyrus blossom, bird feathers, hippopotami, fish that symbolize life cycles.........works for me. Its going to have to work, I guess. I only have ten minutes left to "explain" this shit.
.......where was that sarcophagus FOUND!? oh bloody hell. lets go with choice "NOBODY CARES". Thanks, Vanna.
mahaha. well this only happened on a few of them. it actually went VERY WELL for the most part !!!!!!!!!!! i felt pretty comfortable with it. and at the risk of sounding like a total art nerd, it was actually kind of FUN !!!!!!!!! ....yeah. nerd.
i am SOOOOOOOO going to miss that class. i loved it SO MUCH. MMMMM, art history. i want to take it again!!!! .............sans the 10.5 pound libro.
