Odd, and here I just posted one. So, a bit of back story. I wrote a chapter, realised it happened later, thought it was chapter 4, and it turned out to be chapter 5. First I had to well, have a geneticly modified Land-Shark attack our heroes. Again, the warning, this has not been edited at all. This is just how it came out of my head so it is a mess and ugly gramaticly but I am still doing this.
So, here is
Chapter 4: The trip to Daniel’s soon to be former residence.
Christian and Daniel moved threw the street, Christian was whistling as he moved using the walking stick to emphasis the dramatic moments to his song as Daniel, still confused still holding the note book, followed and all he could think about as they moved is he wished he had his hat.
Daniel and Christian were quite the pair, actually the slightly meeker brother pushed his dirty glasses back as they moved threw the streets of London. Christian glanced up to the becoming more common Airship Docking Stations which surrounded the city looking at a red and gold ship with a bird like head on the front of the ship. Daniel followed his brothers eyes as he paused for a moment. “That is the Pirate’s ship.”
Daniel glanced up and nodded “Are they going to continue to be a problem for you?”
Christian shook his head “A problem, no, a minor inconvinience most likely.” He picked up whistling as they heard a scream ahead and what sounded like a gun shot. Christian, took off in a full run towards it, Daniel paused and relised that it was Miss Agatha Lynn took off charging as well down the street towards the problems.
Christian reached the scene first, skitting to a stop as he saw it. A large thing, standing tall, grey skin, with teeth like razors the bioengineered monster slammed it’s way threw one of the few remaining walls, gristle and blood in it’s over sized jaw. The fin like protrusion from it’s back reved up as it moved towards Miss Agatha Lynn screaming in fear. Christian dropped a two shot derringer into his hand firing twice to the thing as it spun on elephant like pair of legs glowering at Christian and turned to charge him. Daniel tried to help throwing his weight into the land-sharks body, as it threw him aside like a rag doll. Moving towards Christian with a frightening amount of speed as it gained momentum it’s jaws snarling as Christian fired again with another derringer, realizing the uselessness of continuing this tactic Christian backed up pulling his sword cane discarding the sheath. He steadied himself. Daniel, pulled himself up finding himself lying in a heap he got up and turned to charge the thing again.
Christian took a deep breath as it moved towards him, it felt like the world slowed down as he pushed legs to the side, moving and thrusting it was by sheer luck that his brothers weight impacted into the fiend pushing it into Christian’s sword. The trio slammed down blood everywhere, thankfully most of it belonged to the beast. Though Daniel pulled himself up Christian was the one it picked up in it’s Three fingered fist as the bloody mess of a thing rose Christian upwards. Daniel staggered back to his feet collapsing next to Miss Agatha Lynn as Christian discarded his now broken sword the edge of the blade stuck in the neck of the beast. Christian looked around in a half panic as it pulled him towards it’s gapping maw.
Daniel watched as Christian kicked his feet at the chest of the beast. The thing pulling ferociously against Christian’s weight it’s foul fish breath chomping towards the man. Christian fumbled for anything as Daniel ran in grabbing a random hunk of wood that the thing had left discarded in the street throwing it at Christian, which Christian missed nocking him harshly on the back Christian lurched and lost his grip. Christian slid a stiletto out of his boot and kicked the blade sharply into the neck of the beast as Daniel charged again this time stricking with another hunk of wood he had on the street driving the sword blade deeper into the body and the thing collapsed covering them both in blood.
Christian rolled over breathing heavily as Daniel stood next to him. Daniel breathing heavily watched Miss Agatha Lynn’s residence collapse in on itself falling to the ground. Daniel spoke gently to himself as he watched “My home.”
Christian didn’t bother pulling himself up he glanced over from where he layed “Sorry about that, always a sad moment when this happens to a man.”
They missed the mechanical armored man, slip in behind Miss Agatha Lynn, picking her up with a knife to her throat. Though they did not miss her scream.
Christian spun around pulling himself up. Daniel on the other hand just couldn’t bring himself to do more then just watch as Christian moved forward, his hand pulling a small box from inside his coat. Daniel turned his head, Christian moved forward “Well, let’s see you could put Miss Agatha Lynn down, or I can make you put her down.”
The armored figure, tightened it’s grip on Miss Agatha Lynn, squeezing her throat with it’s gloved hand and a mechanical voice, like a voice made by rubbing copper wires together very fast spoke “Designate Christian Craymore, turn over the journal of Dr. Hastings or this fleshy being shall be exterminated.”
Christian smiled “Ah, and if I refuse you shall do something like rend the flesh from her bone or something equally dramatic am I correct? I am afraid, that in the end if I were to put a price on the journal, and I were to put a price on Miss Agatha Lynn, the journal is of more value to me. Sorry Miss Agatha Lynn, but so is the case.”
It fingers tightened harded as Miss Agatha Lynn half screamed, then got cut off to a gurgling gasping noise as the mechanoid soldier pressed it’s leather clothed hand harder and deeper into her throat.
Daniel breathed in shock he stood up in horror as Christian seemed so Blasé about the whole affair. “No wait.” Daniel called “I have the journal….” He reached in his coat.
Christian threw the box as the Mechanoid moved towards Daniel, the box landing just behind it’s head when the thing exploded sending it flying into countless pieces including one holding Miss Agatha Lynn, with an in tack Miss Agatha Lynn screaming as she and the hand collapsed against the wall singed but not burned..
Christian turned on Daniel “Never ever put something I am defending at risk again.”
Daniel rises up to Christian “You were willing to let that thing kill her.”
Christian steps forward pressing his hand into Daniel’s Chest “Daniel, I had no intention of killing her. Though, you put me in much more danger by your actions here.”
Daniel pushes back “What by helping you fight that shark thing, but protecting her? By trying my best to protect the Empire. Or should I trust such things, to you, a drunken lay about with no respect for human life? No, if the empire is in danger. If these things are going to put us at risk then I will not stand by and let you decide what is best. I am going with you, some one with common sense and a sense of moral decency must protect this realm, not leaving this to you.”
Christian shrugs, smiled and put his arm around his brother “Very well, I will get us another ticket to New York.”
