I can tell you where to go, and how to get involved once you are ready. Interested in heavy weapons, fencing, arts and crafts, just comming to events to hang out, what?

My suggestion then would be to come to an event. Fencing and A&S stuff happens at events more than anywhere else. Get started by reading up online. You are located in the Midrealm (multi-state), Pentamere (Michigan), and are possibly in the areas of several groups/houses/etc...look for Cynnabar, Legiodraconis, The Roaring Wastes and general SCA sites like sca.org. Remember that you can attend activities that any group hosts for the most part. You are not restricted geographically. For example, I am part of The Riding of Hawkland Moor--but they dont have their own heavy weapons practices--so I attend the largest fighting group in the area which is a collection of many in the area.
