Spring. Now is the time to plan.

I am planning a kayak trip, a bike/trike tour and a hiking trip. If you are curious about these trips contact me and I will talk details. If you are serious and want to go, I will get you in on the planning now. I have done several of each of these trips now and am very comfortable with all that is involved. We can plan purchases during the winter when supplies are cheap and the impact will be less when we are ready to go. We can also do some test runs on available weekends locally to make sure you are comfortable.

My current plans are as follows:

Hiking trip:
Glacier National Park
I plan to hike in around 5-10 miles and drop camp.
Spend several days hiking the area.
This will be similar on difficulty to my trip with Shane into the Rockies, although less elevation on the initial hike, but more miles while there.
This will involve taking a full week off of work or close to it. Maybe span a weekend with a few days off before and after to keep the trip super cheap (cheaper flights).
Total cost on this trip should be $500 a person or less (assuming you have gear). If you have no gear, expect to drop another $500-$750 on a backpack, boots and other gear.

Kayaking Trip:
I have not decided on a location for this one yet. I am really leaning toward a fall trip in Michigan because they are awesome scenery. I may roll a mid-summer trip in the New River Gorge. Nothing here will be beyond Class II water. This is stuff anyone can do as long as you are not in horrible shape. If we run a course where Class III water exists we will be portaging it. I have an extra kayak if someone needs to barrow one. This will likely be an extended weekend trip (leave Wednesday after work, back on Sunday night). We will camp out of the kayaks. No room for beer, but a little more flexible on food due to additional weight allowances of kayaks.

Bike/Trike tour:
Camping off of bikes/trikes. For this you will need a Bike or Trike that can handle some miles. You will also need some repair tools, extra tubes, patch kits, etc. If you already have a bike or trike you trust, this trip will be very cheap for you. I plan to do this one in the UP most likely. We ride 25-50 miles per day and camp each night. This will be a road trip done on roads with very little traffic (state land, farm, etc). I will be taking my trike with a trailer for gear. For two people, I can haul most of the gear--you will need a small daypack for your clothes. Otherwise, you will need a trailer (check out Burley trailers). If anyone is interested, I am fully willing to consider this on a larger scale and as a mountain bike trip in colorado instead (offroad) which I have done in the past; for offroad you will need to train a bit with me in the spring at local parks.

Fuck it, I am ready. Are you?
