“Paracelsus, drop the artifact.” Pete shouted with his gun drawn.
Giles turned at the shouting. The area had been clear so he had no idea where these hostiles had come from. There was a flash from one of the guns and Giles felt an intense burning sensation as the bullet hit him in the chest. His team of Slayers subdued the newcomers immediately.
“Artie! Are you crazy?” Pete asked.
“I couldn’t risk him getting away. It’s not like a bullet can kill him,” Artie answered.
“You’d better hope to God that is true,” Vi said as she smacked the one called Artie in the back of the head. “I would not want to be you if anything happens to Giles.”
Buffy cradled her Watcher’s head in her lap as the two witches on the team examined the wound. She bit her lip nervously. “How bad?”
The witches exchanged a look before answering. “The bullet is close to his heart and he’s losing a lot of blood. I know how he feels about spells of this kind, but I’m not sure he’ll make it if we wait for the ambulance.”
“Do it. Please.” She glared at the group from Warehouse 13.
