“What the hell? Did I just see what that creep did to you?” Junsu was used to a Yoochun like this, all words and expressions and gestures.

“Yes, Yoochun, you did. Changmin kissed me. On the cheek.” Junsu stuffed his books into the small enclosed space and slammed the metal door on it. “It was a friendly kiss. Relax.”

“No it wasn’t.” Junsu was somewhat disconcerted at the change in his friend’s tone. He turned his head to meet Yoochun’s eyes, and was startled to see that it was now dark and heated.

“Yoochun-ah -” Junsu raised his hand to touch his friend’s shoulder, but he shrugged away from him and strode away quickly.

His hand fell to his side and he was left standing alone in the hallway.

Park Yoochun was oddly distant, and Kim Junsu didn’t like it.

Every day, Park Yoochun would be like a shadow that followed him around everywhere, keeping up an incessant flow of conversation with him, his words leaving his mouth at the speed of lightning but his smile never leaving his face. Every day, Park Yoochun would be there by his side, poking and pouting, acting like a spoilt child who wanted a toy. Every day, well - basically - every day was a day with Park Yoochun by his side.

But the days without Park Yoochun bugging him started to accumulate and it weighed on Junsu’s mind. He started to miss squabbling with Park Yoochun, he started to miss tickling him so hard the other had to beg him for mercy with tears in his eyes, he started to miss the other’s mushy phrases and horribly cold jokes.

What is wrong with me, Kim Junsu thought to himself one day at lunch.

He could not concentrate properly at soccer practice and he had spaced out for a good ten minutes chuckling to himself merrily, imagining that the field they were playing on was Yoochun’s forehead.

Right, Junsu chided himself afterwards, this is the last straw. He had to talk to Park Yoochun before he went crazy.

The first thing he met when he got home was his father’s displeased face.

“Junsu, what has been going on between you and Yoochun recently? I’ve been seeing the both of you coming home separately at different times and even eating your meals far apart from each other.”

Junsu sighed. “Appa, if I knew the reason why he was so mad at me, I would have told you.”

But his father wouldn’t take no for an excuse.

“Go and straighten things out with Yoochun, Junsu. I’m sure you don’t want things to go on this way.”

It was only after dinner and before bedtime that he finally mustered enough courage to talk to Yoochun.

Feeling dread pool in the depths of his stomach, he swallowed and walked into his room tentatively, where Yoochun sat at the desk, scribbling away furiously.

“Yoochun?” His voice was soft and raspy. The said boy made no acknowledgment at his name, but continued to scribble.

“Yoochun. We need to talk.” Even though he said that, Junsu secretly wished that they didn’t have to. A grudged and angry Yoochun was not the best person to speak with at times like this.

He could see the hand gripping the pencil tightly before letting it drop to the table with a light clang.

“What is it?” Yoochun sounded tired, almost defeated. Looking past him, he could see indecent scrawls and profanities on the abused piece of paper that contained his name at the top.

“Yoochun-ah … Are you angry at me?” Junsu could have smacked himself. It was plain obvious that he was.

“No.” Came a cold reply.

“Oh.” It was déjà vu all over again; he couldn’t seem to be able to think of anything clever to say.

“Is that all you have to say to me?” Junsu could see a flicker of anticipation in Yoochun’s eyes.

“I - uh - I …” Junsu didn’t want to dash his hopes, but he knew he would end up doing so anyway. “I’m, uh, sorry. If I ever offended you.”

The silence and muted glare he received was predictable.

“I’ll just, er, leave you in peace.” He wanted nothing better but to escape from Yoochun’s penetrating gaze now.

“Damnit, Kim Junsu!” Yoochun exploded suddenly, frightening Junsu out of his wits. “Are you blind or just plain dumb?”

He could definitely hear incoherent mumblings coming from Yoochun that sounded suspiciously like ‘thick skulled’, ‘dimwit’, ‘stupid’.

Turning to flee from the other boy, Junsu’s getaway was stopped by a hand that pushed him forcefully into the chair that Yoochun had previously occupied.

Junsu gulped. This was not good. He felt trapped in the chair, his free hands twisting themselves around each other, suffocated under Yoochun’s intense stare.

But as Yoochun leaned in and his heart began to drum loudly in his chest, he didn’t have time to think about anything else apart from oh my god oh my god he’s going to kiss me as Yoochun’s lips covered his, a hand at the back of his head to hold him still.

He clutched helplessly at Yoochun’s shirt, drowning, intoxicated by the taste of Yoochun’s lips that nibbled at his, indulging in the irresistible sensation that swept him away and sent waves of pleasure down his spine.

It was only until they broke apart that Junsu realised he was lightheaded from the lack of oxygen. He could feel heat spreading across his cheeks and knew that he was blushing madly now.

“You idiot,” he heard Yoochun murmur softly, his tone tender.

He allowed Yoochun to lead him up and then push him gently down onto the green starry comforter that shone playfully, full of promises and little sappy assurances that meant love.

An extremely-battered piece of paper filled with Yoochun’s scrawny handwriting fluttered in the night breeze.

Kim Junsu, you idiot.

The moon cast its pale rays against the two sleeping figures cuddled closely against each other, their fingers entwined.
