Found this on digg: democracy 2.0: a socio-political experiment that hypothesizes a wide range of individuals can contribute to the creation of our nation's laws through a wiki.

to break it down for those unfamiliar: wikis rely on the idea of open source in that when the source is provided to the public corrections can be made through numerous edits by several people. let us visualize: i put a block of marble in a public place and call it david. several people come by and say,"this isn't right..." and make corrections, edits, to the block to make it more like michealangelo's. over time it becomes a very good replica of david. it is using the knowledge of a society over the knowledge of a single person. it works because the work is never finished and anyone can edit it. incorrect ideas and grammar are filtered out through social darwinism. democracy 2.0 takes the idea that through many edits a sort of bell curve of ideas reflecting social norms will be created and thus making superiour laws. i love this idea. it isn't perfect of course but will be interesting to follow.
