I think it's time that Tony Blair decided if he wants to go with Europe or wants to go with the USA. It angers me to hear him ramble on about how much Britain are contributing to the EU, and then wanders off and does whatever the US wants him to do as well.
And I think he should go with Europe. How many times have we decided to refuse offers to join up with France? And how often has it proven to be the wrong decision?
I mean, we were given the opportunity to trade with France way back when De Gaulle was in power, and we declined, and went with the USA. And when De Gaulle left power France was richer than us. We'd practically devalued our currency just to go with the USA. (Although I suppose that might have been slightly understandable since before they strengthed the Franc the country was falliung apart under the socialist government, with oil prices rising by 100%)
But then we were given the chance to build rockets with them, and we refused, and they suceeded. And then we were told we could buy into their car manufacturing, and we stuck with our own. How many sucessful British car manufacturers are there? And how many French? Michellen, Renault, Peugeot, Citroen... some of the most succesful companies if you exclude the German models.
I think Britain needs to wake up. I'd much rather be associated with France than America. It's even nearer us. It just makes more sense; politically, geographically, and certainly economically.
In case you didn't guess, I managed to pass French. And then I watched stupid Tony ramble about the EU.
