I travel a lot. For work. Like a lot. And I have been traveling for many years. So, when I say that I had a dreadful flight, you just know it must be pretty bad.
Last night flying back home, our plane - one of those very small jets that carry less than 100 - flew through the storms that were wreaking havoc on the ground . It was, by far, the bumpiest ride of my life. We even hit one pocket of air that plunged the plane downward enough to cause drinks to fly, several people to barf and even some to fall out of seats (proof that it pays to keep your seat-belt tightened even when seated). Needless to say, I was never so happy to land. I was surprised to see that the storm system extended from the Midwest down to the Gulf and horrified to see that there was loss of life on the ground - - 20 people across 3 states.
My heart goes out to all those affected by the storms and I hope that all of my LJ friends are safe and comfortable wherever you are.
