So I have gotten really into the new project greenlight. Its interesting to watch them make this horror film. I do think that the director does not know at all what he is doing and I do hope he gets fired. I mean yeah he may make awesome short films and is a really good visualist but if you can't tell people what you want to do then your vision will be trodded upon and then it will no longer be yours. Also the fact that he wants to cast a studio movie with his family members. Now I would much rather work with my friends as well but you have to think about how much the studio is going to give you for money, and your not going to get very much if you have all unknowns in there.
Also for some reason i have been on this horror film kick. I think its becuase i wasn't allowed to watch them as a kid, and all the horror films that came out when I was old enough to watch when i wanted to were always stupid and silly, so i never really had much of an interest. But with the project greenlight and bravo recently had the "100 scariest movie moments wHHOOOOHOOO" it got my interests peaked and now all of the sudden i want to go and rent all these old horror films from the 70's and 80's that i never got a chance to see.
NOW time for something I haven't done in a while A MOVIE REVEIW.
I got the opportunity to attend a test screening a few days ago of a movie that i have had in anticapation for quite a long time. I movie that is based on a comic that is so noir and kick ass that it should be taught in schools. That movie was SIN CITY. Ok I am going to post two reviews of this film one from timmy the fanboy comic geek and another from tim the film critic
Timmy the fanboy comic geek's take on SIN CITY.
OH MY FUCKING GOD. IT FUCKED ROCKED IT WAS JUST LIKE THE COMIC. WORD FOR WORD. PANEL FOR PANEL. NOIR OUT THE ASS. MICKEY ROURKE WAS FUCKIN MARV TO THE T. I WANT TO MAKE SWEET LOVE TO ROSARIO DAWSON'S GAIL. CLIVE OWEN DID A PRETTY DAMN GOOD JOB. MARV BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF PEOPLE AND HE WAS FUNNY AND THEN THE PROSTITUTES FROM OLDTOWN WERE ALL HOT AS HELL. ELIJAH WOOD CREEPED THE FUCKIN HELL OUT OF ME. JESICCA ALBA'S WIG SUCKED BUT WHATEVER. FANTASTIC CAPTURED THE ESSENCE OF THE COMICS WITH OUT SKIPPING A BEAT. I THINK I CREAMED MY PANTS WHEN BRUCE WILLIS BEAT THE FUCK OUT NICK STAHL THE YELLOW BASTARD BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA FRANK MILLER FOR PRESIDENT FRANK MILLER TO BE THE FATHER OF MY UNBORN CHILD WOOHOO. ROSARIO DAWSON WAS REALLY HOT!
Ok after i finally let that out now lets see what tim the film critic has to say.
SIN CITY. Ok I love the comics, I think frank miller is a fantastic artist and writer and love his work. Robert Rodriquez. ONCE UPON A TIME IN MEXICO had some ok moments but really feel apart toward the end. DESPERADO was fun but i doubt that i would ever watch it ever again. EL MARIACHI i never thought was very good either. THE FACULTY i thought was kind of dumb. Saw SPY KIDS liked alan cumming didn't care for much else, skipped out on the other films in the spy kids franchise. Needless to say i really don't care for him that much, I mean i don't have any reason to hate him like Joel Shumacher, nor do I think he makes shitty movies a la Micheal Bay. Its just he has never done anything to catch my appeal. And honestly with Sin City it still doesn't for one reason. I feel Frank Miller really was the heart and brains behind it, i mean don't get me wrong i thought it was directed well and that it had a fantastic look to it, but i think that the reason for that was mainly becuase of frank. its just that miller really seems to have more of an eye for the noir feel that the movie was then rodriquez. Becuase when you read the books thats what it is its straight up noir. Now it may be silly noir and campy noir, but its still a whole hell fun to read. And sin city is fun to watch if you realize that you are going to be watching a campy noir film. Thats why I predict that it will not do as well as people think it will. Its silly completely silly comic book movie and i feel that american audiences are not going to pick up on that and come out of the theatre going " That sucked oh my god it was so dumb and stupid." becuase the the dialouge is a little silly sometimes and occasionally the voice over narrative can be a little over the top. But thats how those old old old film noirs were to a degree. But if you go in expecting a movie based on a comic book you are going to have fun . There is crazy violence, gore, prostitutes and humor and its a lot of fun.
Quentin Tarantino's scene was fun as well, i think it was pretty obvouse which scene that is once you watch it.
The acting goes from awesome to just ugg. Mickey Rourke- Awesome fantastic, i think that frank miller originally charactized marv after him from the begginging becuase i always thought he would be good for that role. Benicio Del tore-very very good but when is he not. Bruce willis- good, but i hated his voice overs YET i loved him everywhere else. Elijah Wood- Very good doesn't even speak but gives a really fun show. Rutger Hauer- has a awesome monolouge Clive Owen- I usaulley don't see the fascination with clive owen except that women find him sexy, as actor he always seems very eh to me but does a good job in this picture. Rosario Dawson- Hot HOt HOt HOT! Hottie McPherson.So hot that its not even funny, also she.is a talented actress Jessica alba- Hot but sucked ass i am sorry and she had the worst fucking wig i had ever seen in my life worst actor/ actress in the entire film. Oh and Nick Stahl was really good and surprised me very much so by how good he was.
Anyways over all SIN CITY is a lot of fun. Its campy noir and it is ment to veiwed as such. If you see it its ok to laugh its not trying to be a seriouse suspense thriller, we have so many of those films were everything is so seriouse and everything is so dramatic, those films suck. YOU can have fun with SIN CITY. I could have fun with rosario dawson but that is a whole other journal entry.
