Last day of Gaylaxicon

Monica and I got up somewhat early (for a Sunday morning) to go to a panel on Torchwood. I haven't seen the show, but I'm a big Captain Jack fan from Doctor Who, so I didn't mind listening to the discussion.

It was a little bad of me, but I went into the panel without paying the fee for Sunday. If you notice, my badge only says Saturday. Nobody checked our badges at all on Saturday, even though mine wasn't visible much of the time. So we figured I could just go to the panel and if anyone asked, I would say I forgot. Nobody asked.

One of the best parts of the panel was when the small robotic Dalek came walking in, squeaking "EXTERMINATE" in his adorable little Dalek voice. He wandered around for a bit and then left. I almost wish he would have stayed and been on the panel, but his remote control was very noisy and distracting, so it may not have worked out so well. Monica got some good pictures of him. I wasn't quick enough with the camera.

After the panel we started looking for the hotel's 'business center'. What I actually needed was a printer to check in to my flight and print out my bus pass. Missy doesn't own a printer and her business center at her apartment was closed. We found a computer and printer in the lobby (score!) but I had to enter my credit card number, and it charged me $1 to print my bus pass. Strange.

Once that was over, we ferreted out the dealer room, which was down a maze of hallways.

They were giving out free sample books of queer sci-fi fiction (haven't actually read it yet, but I assume that's what it is). The guy then said he wanted to put a sticker on our badges to show we had gotten them. Ulp. Remembering my badge status, I quickly turned around and started walking towards the door, and then managed to meander to the side along the row of tables, out of reach. Monica caught up to me and remarked how smooth I was (not). Nobody seemed to notice or care. The dealers were mostly selling their books, t-shirts, tv show memorabilia, candles, and incense. One guy tried to sell me a 'cake' candle which looked like it weighed about ten pounds. I didn't bite.

Lunch was at Starbucks again, but I didn't get a free song card this time, sadly. Then I caught MARTA to the airport. I was a little worried about where the stop was in relation to the airport itself, but it turns out it was right next to the terminals, which was lovely. There was a huge line to go through security, but it went very quickly, and I found myself waiting at my gate with two hours to spare. I spent the time catching up on the Savage Lovecast.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a strange looking guy. He had the white priest collar on, was carrying a bible-like thing, but had a bright red cross hanging around his neck. I've never seen that before. And it turned out he was sitting in the same row as me on the plane. I thought about getting out my queer fiction and reading it, but my bag had already been stowed.

Flight was uneventful, and I managed to find the way to the Bus station to catch the Van Galder line back to Madison. So here I am, writing from home.
