So, most of you know that I'm a huge fan of Black Friday. I love to shop, especially on the day after thanksgiving. I know, I'm crazy... deal. To say that I've been looking forward to today all year isn't an understatement. So, you can imagine my mood this morning as I watched all my plans for the past year fall apart. The morning started off wrong when I woke up an hour late. I got cleaned up and went to wake up my mother and sister, only to find out that my sister had been awake all night with a killer tooth ache, and my mother was up all night with food poisoning. Things went downhill from there. After about 2 hours of calling around trying to find a dentist open on black friday, we finally decided to just take my sister to the ER. The ER here in Tullahoma is craptastic at best, so since we were going to go shopping in Chattanooga anyway, we decided to just take her to Erlanger. We got there around noon. Around 2:30, we were finally ready to leave the ER, after they gave my sister enough antibiotics and Perkasit to knock out a small whale. None of us had eaten at that point, so we decided to grab lunch at Sticky Fingers in Hamilton Place. So, around 3:30 this afternoon, I finally set first in a retail establishment. All of the early bird specials were gone, all of the choice loot was gone, and I was already in a foul mood. I bought a new Firewire card at best buy (as my current firewire card appears to be on the blink). We took Rhonda to Morning Glory, so she could shop for Anime, then she said she was too sick to go on. I did make one more stop at Rock Creek outfitters to try to find a good waterproof jacket for down in the gulf, but I balked when I saw the $300 price tag for the jacket I wanted. So, I dragged my sister, mother, and father home, and here I sit... thoroughly annoyed that my favorite day of the year was shot to hell.
Anyway, that's enough bitching for now... let me fill in the blanks (and give some explanation as to why I've been gone for almost a month now).
Work is picking up steam, finally. We've got 3 major projects in the work, and it's eating up alot of our time. Between my Kempo Class, the long hours and weekends, and my reconnection to the World of Warcraft, I haven't had time to devote to LJ like I used too... so, rest assured, I'm not dead yet ;) There are days I'd like to be, but I'm not there just yet ;) I did finally deal with the black widow problem. I came home one day and the little lady had friends over, and had laid 3 large egg sacs, so I finally had to bust out the heavy duty spider poison and put her down. My cat is doing just fine... she's still one hell of a trouble maker, but she's cute so I let her get away with (most of) it. Other than that, there isn't much to report. Just working, playing WoW, and enjoying my cat.
Oh, and the christmas thing isn't a complete bust... I just finished helping my mother order my present this year. Instead of everyone buying me a bunch of crap that I might like, they all pooled their money together and bought me the last of my scuba gear! So, I've got a really nice Tusa dive computer and regulator package, and a Mares BC on it's way to mom's house now. I'll get it for christmas and should be ready to dive by the first of the year ;) I don't know when my family will get together for christmas, but I'm sure I'll be up here long enough to get that bit of loot, and give my family the things I'm getting for them, so it will all work out. My father put forth a large chunk of the money for the dive gear, as a way of making up for missing my graduation and birthday this year, and that's more than I would have asked/expected him to do, so I can't complain. So, even though this weekend has been stressful dealing with my family (and I have the headache to prove it), I've still managed to make it out on top ;)
Anyway, I'm off to bed now, I'm worn out and I have a long drive in the morning. I'll be passing through Birmingham tomorrow around lunchtimeish (I think?), then I'll be home around 7pm or so. Which reminds me... the drive is sooo much nicer now, as Debbie gave me one of her old 20 GB ipods right before I left for home! Yay for 2000+ tunes at my fingertips! :D
