So, with a lot of help from Mindy, my costume for this years Halloween is done (mostly). All of the hard sewing is done, at the very least. I have to go around the various pieces and trim any loose threads, clean up any loose stitching, and fix some of the seams that I couldn't figure out how to do with a sewing machine. I've been cutting, pinning, and sewing for the past 2 days now... Mindy came over yesterday to show me how to layout and cut my patterns, then she came over tonight and actually did the sewing on the hard piece. I took her home around 10:00pm and came back to get back to work. I finished up the last of the piece she was working on, then I did other piece completely on my own! W00T, I know how to sew... must more proof that I'm not really a guy ;)
Of course... it looks like a Michaels blew up in my living room... I really don't want to clean it up right now, but I've got to get the most obvious stuff out of the way or my cat will get into all kinds of trouble with it ;) She already gave me a migrane while working with the patterns... If you've never worked with McCalls or Simplicity sewing patterns, they come printed on huge sheets of what is basically tissue papper (like what they wrap presents with at christmas). Yeah... that shit makes alot of crincly noises. Cat + Crinkly == TROUBLE! So, I've been cloisered in my office with Mindy's prized sewing machine doing the last of the sewing for the past 4 hours. It probably wouldn't have taken me so long if I hadn't stopped after ever pass to make sure I was putting the outfit together properly ;)
Anyway, I've got to run to to the store tomorrow to find a decent mask for my costume. I don't need one, I have an alternate, but the more I think about it, the more I want one. I should be able to find what I want at Target, but I can check walmart if I have too... worst case, I'll drive to Daphne and go to the Spirit store, I know they have what I want (I was just there a couple days ago). At any rate, I'm pretty much good to go for the halloween debauchery this year... now I just have to find something to do next weekend that (hopefully) doesn't involve driving 6+ hours to find a friendly face ;)
Anyway, it's after 3:30am at this point, and I'm really damn tired now, so I'm gonna go to bed. I'm not to worried about work tomorrow, Debbie is out of the office and Shannon and Mindy are on vacation for the day... they are celebrating their 1 year wedding aniversary tomorrow, so be sure to drop them a line to congradulate them for it! As for me, with the entire office to myself, I might actually get some work done ;) Or I'll just pass out at my desk and wake up wondering why I'm staring at the underside of my desk :P
