Live from San Diego, this is Luis' sister logged on and posting away--AGAIN! The bastard deleted the first post I wrote. Apparently he takes offense to being called gay. Which, if you're remotely smart, the old post is clearly a subtle and humorous critique on the word "gay" and it's currently prevalent use among young people as an generic insult (e.g., retard, bastard). The word "gay" when heard in a high school or urban setting (think Eminem and hip-hop's influence) tends to be devoid of literal potency as it has morphed to mean something other than "homosexual." Basically, it's synonym for "jerk," only slightly harsher. And simply, that's just stupid. George Orwell wrote in an essay entitled Politics and the English Language, "[The English language] becomes ugly and inaccurate because our thoughts are foolish, but the slovenliness of our language makes it easier for us to have foolish thoughts."
At the moment, my argument is a somewhat hurried, fragmented opinion, I admit. But in my head it's boiling into a genius paper topic about the (lack of) discourse that defines intellectual and societal progression. Or, whatever.
So yeah. Because I rarely get a chance to live vicariously through today's youth -I'm usually found in parks, hunting children with blow darts and a pipe- posting on my brother's LJ feels truly revitalizing. In fact, I remember my old LJ -which I had to resurrect from it's dormancy in order to post comments (see Luis' first entry)- being a cool place to post random shit about random shit. But for whatever reason, clicking through my old entries, I'm loaded with shame. My thoughts regarding the blog are pretty much ridiculously self-deprecating, and are all along the lines of: "What the fuck was I thinking?" and "Goddamn, I can't believe I was writing that poorly."
Give me a week. If within that week this post is still up, then you know these thoughts have come straight from my decrepit, black heart and will NEVER be erased. If it's down, that probably means I'm just rambling and doped up beyond belief.
Toodles.
