Taiji lives in Tokyo now, but he can't help it. Every time he spends hours trying to come up with a single line, every time he re-listens to a track in progress and disgustedly deletes the whole thing, every time he wakes up drenched in sweat from dreams of faceless, screaming crowds, he's drawn to New York (and Mitch) like a moth to a flame.
So here he is again, lying on the small bed in Mitch's messy room, wrists throbbing and muscles sore. He feels better already, and he wishes he'd remembered to bring his laptop to type up the ideas running through his head.
"You should let me pierce your navel, man," Mitch says, drawing him out of his thoughts. He has no idea how long he's been lying there.
"... What? Why?"
"'Cause it'd look good?"
Taiji winces at the thought, putting a hand on his stomach. "I don't like piercings."
Mitch's only reply is a short bark of laughter, and Taiji feels his entire face heat up - he likes playing with Mitch's snakebites when they kiss, running his tongue over them and pulling at them lightly with his teeth... And then there's his ampallang. And the crossed barbells on each of his nipples. "I... That's not... shut up. I don't like piercings on me."
"Don't rock stars have piercings in Korea?"
Taiji's stomach clenches and he opens his eyes, squinting as he tries to see Mitch's expression. He starts sitting up, groping around for his glasses, but Mitch pushes him back down firmly. "Hey, chill out. I was buying some of those hardcore noodle things you like and I saw a poster of you in Koreatown. I really don't give a shit and I ain't gonna tell anyone."
He slowly lets out the breath he'd been holding and closes his eyes again. "I hope you didn't buy the poster," he jokes, because that's better than dwelling on how abnormal his life is.
"Nah. I kinda wanted to, though. I could kiss it good night when you're not around."
"... Mitch."
Mitch snickers, then rolls on top of him and makes himself comfortable. "I gotta get some sleep, I have a shift this afternoon. You still gonna be here when I wake up?"
The question reminds him of Hyun Suk, and he wonders when Mitch started caring whether he stays or not. He can't decide if that means he should see him more often or less often. "I think so," he replies, absently running a hand over Mitch's back.
"If you're staying, there's a kick-ass show tomorrow. And I have a spare ticket."
"Mm."
"C'mon, you know you wanna mosh with me."
Taiji smiles despite himself. "Good night, Mitch."
"'Night, Jimmy," Mitch replies, and Taiji can feel him grin against his shoulder.
