Pairing meme

This isn't fanfic, obviously, but it's fanfic-related and possibly of interest to some readers, so I'm tossing it onto my writing journal. :) Go ahead and steal it if you want - it's fun to fill out.

Six I love:
#1: perry/sean
#2: teddy/seungho
#3: g-dragon/taeyang
#4: hyun suk/taiji
#5: teddy/taeyang
#6: g-dragon/jinu

Three I like:
#7: kush/cl
#8: perry/taeyang
#9: perry/min suk

Three I never liked:
#10: dae sung/top
#11: g-dragon/cl
#12: jinu/sean

Two that piqued my interest:
#13: taeyang/master hwang
#14: taeyang/daniel

Why do you dislike #11 (G-Dragon/CL)?:
Because it often seems to be based on the mistaken assumption that CL and G-Dragon are ~~creepily similar~~. They fulfil the same role on stage, they like fashion and they both exude confidence, but the similarity pretty much ends there, IMO. And I find their interaction much closer to that of close friends or siblings than that of people who are attracted to each other. Whenever someone goes on about how CLOSE AND IN LOVE they act, I can't help but think it says more about the person's inability to see members of the opposite gender as potential friends than it says about CL and Jiyong's relationship.

But, hey, I love when authors prove me wrong about things like this, so if you have any recs... :)

(As an aside, am I the only one who doesn't think their on-stage vibes aren't even that similar? Jiyong doesn't have CL's confidence. They have vastly different backgrounds - CL has an incredibly supportive father, learned to adapt to new people and new cultures and new situations as she grew up, and doesn't have the mental baggage that comes with having had her every move scrutinized by the Korean public since puberty.)

Who do you know that ships #9 (Perry/Min Suk)?
ygscrack :)

What would be your ideal scenario for couple #3 (G-Dragon/Taeyang)?
My ideal scenario is pretty much what we see right now - the obvious closeness, the inside jokes, and how comfortable they are around each other - but extended to a romantic relationship, I guess. I don't think they'd be all that different as a couple.

What is your favorite moment for #1 (Perry/Sean)?
... Their entire life? XD; They haven't interacted all that much on camera, ironically enough. But if I have to choose something specific, I love the look on Sean's face when he talks about Perry. He always goes on all sparkly-eyed about how talented Perry is at every aspect of hip-hop - graffiti, breakdance, rapping, songwriting - and it's obvious that Sean's love for hip-hop was first defined by his affection for Perry.

How long have you been following couple #6 (G-Dragon/Jinu)?
Uhhh. At least four years. o_o ygscrack and I first came up with the pairing while watching YG Family interviews from 2002-03 where Jinu and G-Dragon are constantly teasing each other. Jinu can't seem to keep his hands off him (making G-Dragon shiver and squirm by poking at the back of his neck while he's trying to answer interview questions is the example I keep bringing up) and from there we came up with the concept of Jinu using teasing and play-fighting as an outlet for his inappropriate attraction to G-Dragon.

What’s the story with #8 (Perry/Taeyang)?
It was a companion pairing to G-Dragon/Jinu over four years ago. :) GDYB were BOTH little shitheads back then - YB could certainly hold his own in the smart mouth department, anyway, and he kind of imitated GD in a lot of ways when he was around 15-16. So if GD's being awesome and edgy by ~experimenting~ with one of their YG Family mentors, YB has to beat him by doing something truly epic like hitting on the weird American producer.

Of course, Perry's personality doesn't lend itself to taking advantage of a stupid teen who's just trying to one-up his best friend, so I came up with Perry being understanding and nice about it, allowing YB to experiment in a safer, less stupid way than GD did, and eventually falling for him as he grows out of the stupid teen phase.

Which ship do you prefer-#2 or #4 (Teddy/Seungho or Hyun Suk/Taiji)?
I'll have to go with Taiji/Hyun Suk just because they have so much history. Also, I'm a sucker for pairings that lend themselves to huge, epic angst that spans decades (Perry/Sean is a good example of that), so between Taiji having to leave Korea and Hyun Suk getting married despite his no-marriage pact with Taiji, there's a lot to write about.

You have the power to make one ship non-existent. Choose from #10 or #12 (Dae Sung/TOP or Jinu/Sean).
Jinu/Sean, because there's very little basis for it, and there's soooo much crap between them right now that I can't imagine them ever being pairable. Dae Sung/TOP is much easier to defend.

What interests you about #14 (Taeyang/Daniel)?
I know Taeyang/Daniel seems strange, but... I've noticed how Taeyang's body language changes when he's around him. To an extent, I think this applies to Seungho and many of the "gayer" dancers as well. Taeyang seems oddly AWARE of them when they're around. He's quiet and looks at them sideways and sometimes touches them awkwardly. It looks like a hesitant attempt at displaying interest or at exploring his own sexuality, I don't know. :') I think it's also similar to the way he'd act around girls a few years ago.

I really started noticing this after, like, a five-second shot in 2NE1 TV where Young Bae is sitting next to Daniel in a recording studio, his arm slung over the back of the couch behind Daniel. YB makes some random remark and laughs, but stops when he looks at Daniel (who's looking back at him) and then just kind of... licks his lips awkardly and looks away. Blink and you'll miss it, but I think it's representative of the way YB acts around obviously gay men, and I find it intriguing. There's gotta be something to be done with it.

What’s a song that reminds you of #1 (Perry/Sean)?
Don't Leave Me. It's Perry's typical I-love-you-so-fucking-much rap mixed with a Pacific island kind of sound and references to ignoring people who hate on them just for being together. And, well, the whole "don't leave me" thing is an important part of Sean and Perry's history, what with Sean fucking off to Korea after high school and all.

Which of these ships do you love the most right now?
Right this second, I have a soft spot for Teddy/Taeyang. I'm sure I'll get bored of it soon, though. I'm always jumping from one weird pairing to another.

Which do you dislike the most?
Jinu/Sean. /icky dance

If you could have any of these pairings double date, who would they be?
Taeyang/Daniel and Teddy/Seungho. It would be quiet and low-key and wonderfully awkward.

Have #2 (Teddy/Seungho) kissed yet? Elaborate if yes.
No. They're both in love with each other's minds and stay up all night talking about Nietzsche and music and fashion, but Seungho's too shy to make a move and Teddy thinks he's too old and unattractive to make it work.

Did #4 (Hyun Suk/Taiji) have a happy ending, or is one likely?
HAHAHAHA. Uh, no. I think Hyun Suk has grown a little more conservative over the years, or at least has become obligated to fake it for the sake of the label, and I'm sure Taiji isn't impressed with that. There's also the fact that Taiji doesn't like spending lots of time in Korea, so they haven't seen much of each other for the past ten years. Hyun Suk wants stability and routine and a family, and Taiji's too... broken to give him that, even if it were accepted in Korea.
I think they've given up at this point, and Hyun Suk thumbing his nose at their no-marriage pact was probably the last straw.

What would make you start shipping #14? (Taeyang/Daniel)
Seeing them interact a bit more would probably help a lot.

If only one could happen, which would you prefer-#7 (Kush/CL) or #13 (Taeyang/Master Hwang)?
I'm going to say Taeyang/Master Hwang, just because Taeyang is so enormously popular and has such a perfect little Christian young man image that he'd probably have a tiny chance of improving the situation for gay people in Korea if he ever came out. Also, it'd be fucking hilarious to watch.

You have the power to decide the fate of #5. (Teddy/Taeyang)
They continue to live together, write songs together and emotionally support each other. Doesn't matter whether they're a "real" couple - they're obviously good for each other.
