Microsucks...

Can anybody tell me why Douglas Coupland's novel Microserfs is considered a cult classic? I'm reading it, and hoooooooooooooooooo boy... is it ever boring. It's not funny, it's not cunning, it's not clever. It's ridiculous high-school banter which meanders all over the place without ever leaving the front porch.

This is, hands down, the worst book I've ever read. It's annoying. It's frustrating. Just when you think "Ah, here we go, we're finally gonna start going somewhere!" the chapter ends and the next chapter begins the exact same way as every other chapter begins - with some retarded banter about some inane subject which, supposedly, consumes the analytical brain power of every nerd on the planet. I'm on page 300 and literally, with everything that I've read, this book may as well be 25 pages long.

If you've never read Microserfs, don't. Do something more entertaining, like watching that brutally disappointing CBC documentary Hockey: A People's History. Go to a midnight mass. Go get your ass waxed. Rake your lawn. Anything and everything is better than this book.

I can't wait for it to be over and done with so I can get on to the next book - Tom Robbins' Skinny Legs And All.
