Quick update: Craft March of Doom

Jul 03, 2006 12:08

Okay, I'm being silly. I did have an accident while trimming the batting on the quilt and one corner is now reinforced. I'll show you that detail later, after it's all sewn up. Now there are pins holding down the binding (which is a self-binding, the backing folded over, hence the drama of the cut).

Also shown are a baby sweater and booties for the same friend who received the group blanket recently. Bootie pattern is from the fun fun fun book "50 Baby Booties to Knit". I'm a bootie addict. I bought the hard-to-find book in Long Grove, IL, at a charming little yarn shop called "I'd Rather Be Knitting!" Here's a picture of me outside the store, with a wistful smile because though I have yarn and book and my favorite DPNs (Crystal Palace--I paid full price for two sets even though I could get 'em cheaper if I waited to get home. I WANTED TO KNIT BOOTIES!!! on the plane, and did), I have to leave my new friend and her sweet-as-pie children in Illinois. Not fair, I say. It's quite, quite temperate and lovely out here in Seattle, Erica. The girls will love it here. Hurry up now, I'm waiting...

Notes on the yarn I bought, then: Art Yarns Super Merino DK, in a color that I instantly went toward in the store. Seriously, after acknowledging the existence of Erica and the girls it was the first thing I looked at. Then I wandered around the store with a skein in hand for 45 minutes or so, having fun admiring Isabelle's drawings, trying not to encourage the totally charming antics of Ellie, picking up a million other great skeins of yarn and eventually just clearing the shelf of the neapolitan yarn I loved instantly. For better or for worse there were only three skeins on the shelf.

Anyway. It was so very nice to meet a new blogger in person. It truly is amazing the friendship the internet has brought into my life. I would expound upon this topic but lucky for you, I'm too hungry and the mail came, so I'm off.

PS Sweater pattern is from Rowan Pipsqueaks. Such a shock, I know.
