max tests the new blankie
Originally uploaded by crankyisgood. Backed with 100% cotton flannel that Seth picked out. I used the self-binding technique that I happily discovered in a Singer quilt book that I bought at the used book store yesterday (right, I *needed* a third quilting book--I *wanted* some Weeks Ringle but none was to be found). Anyway, I hand-sewed the edging down and (obviously) tied the corners to the back. I plan to get a better picture at the office but man. This is so nice I am almost reluctant to part with it -- except I'm honestly looking forward to its admiration at the office! I hope the floral print doesn't make it too old-fashioned for the recipient but you know, it just seems too lovely not to snuggle with no matter how non-pink-flower-loving you may be.

Next to Maxy's back you can see the last two balls being knit into the Baby Moderne. I'm planning to either skip the edging or crochet it on. Today I wove in all the ends and I gotta say, it seemed really fast, even though there are obviously more ends than usual. Hm, now that I think about it, there are far fewer ends on the Moderne than on the blankie-of-squares so there you go. I'll at least measure it for you if I can't get a decent photo.
