Attention all my PBS nerd friends.

First, I LOVE it when anyone at all talks about watching any PBS shows.

Second, lexophile and vellumblue and all other Newshour freaks, did you get to have a Newshour-themed birthday party when you turned three?

ETA: original WaPo article with quote: "As a baby, he became fascinated by the show's sparkling trumpet theme and took to calling it the "da-da-da" show." ( Read more... )

No, thanks! Love this line though: "A turning point came in April, when Bush sat through a 65-minute private White House screening of a PBS documentary..."

Those two little words say so much.

Maybe he is afraid of watching more PTV because it might influence him to spend money on social services and the environment!

I kind of just had a vision of my future children.

We'll throw the girl a "Frontline" Sweet 16 and everyone will go home crying.

I missed that. Pathetic. PBS/NHWJL should sue for copyright/trademark infringement (the hats, the invitations) and ask for the membership fee in damages.

I don't know if it's in the article; someone here told me.

probably the single reason it's hard to be a PTV station is legal costs. rights. etc. okaaaaaaaaaay, not the SINGLE reason.

Aw, to think what I was missing out on when I asked for Pippi Longstocking. This is fantastic though - the hats! The cake! the "he's really a normal kid," implying there's something abnormal about this?

Think about all the great PBS shows you could build a party around: Rick Steves, Sewing with Nancy, Joy of Painting!
