He smiled to himself, trying to remember being that young. It was harder than he expected.

They'd been in Santa Monica that day, strolling the boardwalk and watching all the suntanned beach kids walk past. Matt bought an ice cream, and Charlie kept sneaking glances at him, distracted when Matt caught a drip of melted cream on his arm. Matt grinned at him and stuck his tongue out, licked slowly over his own wrist and pursed his lips to suck lightly on the bend of his thumb.

Charlie tripped over a lamppost and Matt burst out laughing, threw the rest of the cone away and stepped closer, until they were inches apart, an island of tension in the middle of the crowd. Charlie closed his eyes and leaned in, but he barely tasted the ice cream on Matt's lips--blueberry cheesecake, and Charlie's mouth watered remembering it--before Matt backed away, grabbed Charlie by the wrist and dragged him into an instant photo shop.

They are GORGEOUS when they're young and happy. God, I wish I could really do something with this, but I've got so many other projects half-finished right now that I don't even know where to start. *g*

I might have, kind of, maybe, sorta started on a story where they are young together... although not necessarily very happy... Idk, it's as if they thrive on angst or something?!!!

Charlie stumbled inside behind Matt, not quite getting it until Matt shoved him in front of the fake blue sky. The guy at the counter grinned at them, his teeth looking fake-white in his tanned face. Charlie was still processing the change of scene when the guy said something that made Matt laugh.
Charlie had smiled along so he wouldn't appear stupid.

Charlie remembered how Matt had always been able to embarass him when they were first dating. Kissing him in right front of Jennifer, Holding his hand at the movies, changing direction so fast it almost gave Charlie whiplash.

Things were different now. More often than not it was Matt who was embarassed by the things Charlie said and did. Charlie thought it was very Zen.
