Really? You want to do that?

I am editing a report. This particular person has, in the past, taken it upon herself to edit the punctuation of the template - thus making it incorrect according to our guidelines. That's why we have guidelines, you fool!

Today I found this sentence

Furthermore, staff confirm that they initiate help and/or support when necessary and in a manner that suits the particular situations and individuals.

had been edited by the author in a manner that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Furthermore, staff confirm that they initiate help and/or support when necessary and in a manner, that suits the particular situations and individuals.

Please tell me she didn't put a comma where no sane person would ever put one. Why would you do that?!?

There may be more. I have already made requests in the comments on this report, that the coordinator educate the people who write these things about the inappropriateness of editing the template's punctuation, putting words in 'single quotes,' and deleting hard returns at the end of paragraphs. The templates are designed the way they are for a reason, and it is not their job to "fix" formatting "errors." Also, everyone has a copy of the writing guidelines. I would appreciate it if they would at least glance at them once in a while!

Oh, I also noted that if I get another report with the word "further" where it should say "furthermore" I cannot be held responsible for the level of snark that will be found within the resulting comments. I asked the coordinator to please inform these people that the word "further" doesn't mean what they think it does.

Edited to fix a double negative. Teach me to write when annoyed.

wtf, punctual, editing
