So I went to the doctor and guess what she told me...

She said: Girl you'd better get used to the pain and fatigue because they are going to be with you for the rest of your life.

A rather stark proclamation but there it is. There is nothing more the NHS can do for me. I have hypermobility syndrome and I am apparently at the severe end of the spectrum. My only hope is a rigorous self-imposed exercise and rehabilitation programme and if I work really hard I might not get any worse. I've just got to push through the pain and fatigue and get on with it.

I think I'm still a bit in shock. I needed to hear this but I was expecting a glimmer of something positive to hang on to. As it is there's no carrot and a sodding big stick. 'Do painful things or you will be in more pain'.

Right, that's my daily moan. I need to get on and order an exercise mat and one of those big inflatable balls to sit on. (fnar!)
