i once had someone explain to me that happiness was derived from happen-stance. that, the word in itself, implies its fleeting nature. happiness is like a fickle lover. giving you pleasure until there is something easier to entertain. happiness takes work and it takes energy. and when we don't give it the time, it finds someone else who will. that's always how i feel about it. it's like a dancer that has to be twirled and dipped to come back for the next song.
