Last Saturday
Patrick Flynn came into our studios to record a voice over. He is the conductor and music director for the
Saginaw Bay Orchestra. He is by far my favorite client. He fires off dry jokes that would probably seem cruel to the average American, but I just can't get enough. He hops back and forth over that line that divides insult and humor while editing the scripts I wrote for his TV commercials. As soon as he shoots down my copy, he somehow instantly makes light of the devastating blow.
It's always a treat to work with him. Dana and I were working alone that Saturday and he made his way into the office and then wandered into the production area. I happened to notice him making his way OUT of the sound booth, head pointed at the ground. How he got into the place, and promptly get himself lost, I'll never know.
I offered Patrick a cup of freshly brewed office coffee to help his groggy situation, but he just complained of an empty stomach and blamed his state on jet-lag from a recent flight out of Morroco.
My favorite is during his concerts, he'll finish a piece and wait for the audience to applause. If they don't, he'll turn around and shoot a dirty scowl at the massive audience as if to say "Clap you morons!"
hah!
