UPS load test... unplugged from the wall, and it lasted. Wait for it. 6 SECONDS.
You'd think, for $2k, APC (under contract to Compaq, now HP) would do a better job here. It's supposed to periodicly test the health of the batteries. That means *pull current from them*. Just because the string is pushing 134VDC doesn't mean there's any current in them. And yes, that was a "dead" reading.
I would really like to know W.T.F. CP&L did Sunday to make such a mess. Some things not on UPS didn't reboot -- including a high current tape library. (which thanks to idiots at HP, ala Overland, will not power back up when power is restored.) Most things on UPS did reboot. *boggle* The process corrupted the software in at least one power bar -- I've not looked at the rest. (Yet more APC brilliance.)
