Trouble

I have been on the lookout for enemy vessals ever since our journey began. It had not occured to me that Centauri would find a less direct way to strike, although given what I have been told of their ways I should not be surprised. One of the main engines blowing out while in hyperspace could not be a coincidence ( Read more... )

You know your enemy better than I, but if you are concerned about poison, you do not believe a mere delay of your ship and passengers is sufficient for them. Logically, then, attack is almost certain. I suggest you concentrate on the defense of your ship, perhaps even taking a higher priority than repairs.

I have the sensors set in such a way that they should alert me to any approach, and the engine repairs are almost complete.

Something tells me that this has been far too easy.

I also suggest that you make your saboteur... nervous.

xena_princess is currently pursuing him. From what I have heard of her exploits, that would make most people nervous.

If I might make another suggestion, Captain Crais, guard your systems well, but let at least one system appear vulnerable. I would expect a second sabotage attempt as soon as it becomes obvious the repairs are nearing completion, and it's to your advantage to let the saboteur feel safe enough to try, provided they are not actually so safe they succeed.

An excellent suggestion. You clearly have considerable experience in such matters.

Then it is time to be very careful, Captain. Completion of engine repairs changes the situation, and a change forces all the combatants to action. Be sure you are ready for that change when it comes.

Make sure your saboteur has also heard of her exploits, then. His fear is to your advantage. People who are afraid make mistakes. You may be able to force his hand into a second attempt before he is ready, or convince him he is safer abandoning ship, which might also tell you if he is expecting another ship to come after you soon. I would guard, or perhaps even shut down, your escape pods, too. [thinks for a moment] I would shut them down. That not only traps your saboteur, but it may keep the system under your control in case he is trying to trap you.

An excellent suggestion. You clearly have considerable experience in such matters.

I have some experience on both sides of such matters, yes. I confess that I'm more often in the role of the saboteur than the role of the defending crew.
