10 Maybe-Favorite Books [EDIT]

Nov 07, 2006 11:57

This falls into the category of "Innapropriate Things To Think About While You're Sitting Sesshin". And I'm not entirely sure that these are my actual _favorites_, just some I like and think are significant - or have just liked for a very long time.

In no particular order:

1. Karlsson-On-The-Roof, Astrid Lindgren.
2. The Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling (If I had to pick a favorite, it'd be The Goblet of Fire.)
3. The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress, Robert Heinlein
4. Ender's Game, Orson Scott Card.
5. The War Against The Chtorr series, David Gerrold (maybe. I'm not sure about this one.)
6. The Three Pillars of Zen, Phillip Kapleau
7. Golden Gate, by Vikram Seth
8. The Complete Calvin and Hobbes collection, Bill Watterson (yep, it's a comic, and yep, I think it counts)
9. Ishmael, Daniel Quinn
10. (Edit) My Family and Other Animals, Gerald Durrell

My final thought was: If I get stuck on a deserted island with only one book, I would prefer not these ten, but a large poetry compendium. ;-)

reading, sesshin
