yeah yeah yeah, i never update. i'm sorry : (
anyway, jeeze, this place is insane. i've been incredibly busy over the last month or so, and the weeks go by so amazingly fast. it's uncanny. as for interesting stuff i've done lately.....avoided being lynched after the election, the halloween parade in the village (ridiculously insane) lots and lots of time spent at adler (especially now, i'm running the light board for a 4th year show called Top Girls by caryl churchill, fantastic play, but i go to studio at 9 and don't get home till 11. rough) studio continues to prove that i made the right decision as for being here. the suitemates are getting along fantastically, i'm starting to get to know more freshman outside of my group at adler and even some upperclassmen, who are hard to socialize with as we're not there on the same days. i'm really looking forward to coming home for thanksgiving, as much as i love it here and understand that i probably need to live here for the rest of my life, i also realize that i need a BREAK. nyu's schedule is too much for this country boy to handle. three months of class in a row is a little much, eh?
so, i'll more than likely be returning home tuesday night, wednesday morning at the latest. my thanksgiving plans include seeing as many of you homey folks as possible, driving a lot, chilling out in the quiet dark peaceful woods, going to all the old hangouts, but most importantly, chilling with my family. i include cory in this category, as we are going to bolt our hips together on wednesday afternoon and not remove the bonds....ever. well, until sunday i guess. anyway the dbird and i are going to be reunited, in addition to the rest of the glorious beautiful aviary, and much hilarity will ensue, i'm sure.
why the update now, you ask? because i'm supposed to be writing a paper, and damnit if this isn't more fun than writing the freaking essay.
cool trick i learned: take a lighter, and an orange. peel the orange, and try not to squeeze any of the juice out. fold the skin once, and pinch your fingers so a little jet of juice squirts into the flame. hilarity will result.
in other news: READ "THE NAMESAKE" and "INTERPRETER OF MALADIES", by jhumpa lahiri. they are freaking amazingg.
SEE: streetcar named desire, starring marlon brando and vivian leigh. see road to perdition if you haven't yet, and if you have time, the machinist, cause it was pretty good.
upcoming fun stuff for me: drama cantorum concert (singing carmina burana, cartulli carmina, and triumphe de aphrodite, woohoo), the resulting christmas party, museum day at studio (ask me about that if you want) movement projects at studio, going to see avenue q in 2 weeks (i met the composers, btw. look for an avenue q tv show in the fall, and a possible muppet musical written by them in a couple years)
: D : D : D call me. i know i haven't been very good at keeping in touch with all you folks but i miss ya. peace out, kiddies
pppppps. i'm typing this on an apple g4 powerbook. i made the mac switch. : D
