I don’t eat sweets, chocolate, cakes, desserts, pastries, ice cream, basically I don’t eat anything that’s sweet. Apparently this is odd as no-one else I know seems to share this aversion to sugar. It’s not a weight-watching thing or that I’m taking care of my teeth, I just don’t like the taste of sugar. Obviously there’s still sugar in my diet as you find it in most foods, but I wouldn’t eat anything that tastes sweet.
I don’t really know when this started as when I was a kid I ate sweets and chocolate like most other kids. I remember eating sweets throughout school and a bit in University, but then I literally woke up one day and just didn’t want to eat anything sweet again.
Why am I bringing it up today? Well because it’s Christmas and I’m tired of being offered sugary treats such as mince pies and chocolate or being coaxed into the kitchen where there’s a wide variety of sweets and cakes on offer. I’m tired of explaining to everyone that I don’t eat sweets to be met with incredulous stares. I’m tired of repeating this fact several times to the same people when they again attempt to offer me sweets.
Is it really that strange to not like sweet things?
