End of Time, Parts One and Two **SPOILERS**

Some random thoughts on what I like and didn't like as I rewatch End of Time on BBC America.

Part One

The Doctor and the Ood. I liked this. The Doctor has never responded well when summoned. Calls for help are one thing. But an outright summons? Nope, has never responded well. But when he realized there was a problem, he was all business.

The Master's ring (One Ring to rule them... Sorry, wrong fandom). Okay, we all knew that would play a part when we saw the well manicured hand pick it up at the end of "Last of the Time Lords". So they had a trial for Lucy Saxon that was kept out of the media? umm.. sure. (Plot hole alert!)

Now admittedly, I have never been a fan of RTD's Master. This is nothing against John Simm. I'm sure the man is a fine actor when given good material. But The Master? No. Don't need an effing backstory. Why is it so important that we be sympathetic towards the Master? He is supposed to be EVIL. Not MISUNDERSTOOD. *rolls eyes* The whole reincarnation. The constant hunger and gross eating habits were not necessary. IMO.

What the heck is RTD's fascination with President Obama and American government? I very seriously doubt that the Brits are waiting in eager anticipation for the US government to fix all the problems.

The scene with Wlifred and the Doctor in the cafe. That pretty much made the entire episode. The scene with the old folks group was cute, but dorky. The cafe scene was fantastic. I don't think we have ever seen the Doctor fight regeneration so much. Of course, he doesn't know if he's going simply die or if he could regenerate. And it's not that he's never had time to think about it. From Doctor 4 to 5 there were two episodes with The Watcher, which ended up being part of the regeneration.

Again, the scenes with the Doctor and the Master just didn't do anything for me. I don't need a f*cking backstory for the Master. I don't want to feel story for him or understand him. He's effing evil. sheesh. Too many times in part one it feels like I'm watching the Master's story, not the Doctor's. funny, I thought the show was called Doctor Who.

The father/daughter couple. WTF? What do they do for the story? oh, provide machine thingy. sheesh. They just seem like an easy plot device to me. Because occasionally (frequently) RTD gets lazy.

"You can't leave me with her."
"Fair enough."

"Are you shouting, at the air?"
"Yeah. Maybe"

That was funny. Yes, I like the Noble family. :)

The turning everying into the Master thing. Boring! The "master race" joke? lame.

The return of the Time Lords. More on that later. I'll post this part then comment on Part Two as I'm watching.
