Reed Richards was more or less permanently stretched out by this point. Whatever technology Stark used in the construction of his cell kept him from really using any strength to move his limbs around or, really, move at all. And yet he realized when he wasn't alone anymore. He was isolated to the point where he could tell when there was another person in the room.
"This isn't a scheduled visit," he pointed out.
"Yeah, we'll, I've got a few questions to ask you off the record," Spider-Woman said, walking over before pulling her mask down. "And I've only got a couple minutes. You may be a crazy psychopath, Reed, but I've never known you to be a liar. And, unfortunately, you're the only one who can give me a hand here."
Peter Parker's clone?" Reed asked. "I haven't seen you since your Ultimates team found me in the Negative Zone. I was sure you would have been killed in the attacks before that, though."
"Yeah, sure, I'm a tough bug to squish or whatever. Time, Reed," Jessica said.
"Fine. I don't have anything better to do," Reed said. "and you said I'm the only one who can help?"
"You're the only one besides Octavius to look at the DNA of any of Peter's clones," Jessica said. "Yes or no question: is there a chance my DNA is unstable? Could my body break down?"
"...Interesting question," Reed said. He was about to launch into an explanation until he saw the look on Jessica's face. "Fine. Yes or no. From what I saw of the Scorpion clone, I have no reason to suspect that he isn't still in perfectly good health to this day."
"What about the clone posing as Peter's dad?" Jessica asked. "He rapidly aged out of nowhere from what I understand."
"He was the last clone Octavius cooked up. He was aging at the same rate the whole time, you just didn't see him long enough to realize it," Reed scoffed.
"And I can trust you here?" Jessica checked, watching for any tell in his face.
"Of course. The truth here is much more interesting than whatever science fiction you came up with for your fate," Reed said.
"What do you mean?" Jessica demanded.
"You came all this way for a chat and didn't even listen," Reed said. "and if I'm not mistaken, now your time is just about up. I'd get going if I were you. Otherwise you might have to answer some difficult questions yourself."
Jessica was about to speak, but her phone started vibrating in her pocket, indicating that her time was, in fact, about up. Dammit, he was right about the timing. No time for any other questions. She pulled her mask back on and headed out.
It wasn't until she was safely outside the Triskelion that she realized what Reed had said. "The Scorpion clone could be alive?" All this time, Jessica thought she was the only clone of Peter Parker left. How on Earth could Scorpion be alive?
