Friday was date night for Matt and me. We head out to Redcoat Tavern where I had smoked chicken and Matt had pot pie. They were (sadly) out of his favorite, shepherd's pie, but the pot pie was a great substitute. Despite our better judgment, we split an order of scotch eggs, which are hard-boiled eggs covered in sausage and deep-fried. Certainly not healthy, but I found them to be pretty tasty. They're not worth the price though. :( I could get a whole breakfast from National Coney Island for the price of one scotch egg! Still, I'd eat them again if price weren't an issue.
Saturday was Shawn's birthday, so we head out with the whole family to Olive Garden. I'm usually not a fan of chain restaurants, but I was surprised with how good everything was. And filling. If I had cash, I'd head back up there for more, that's for sure!
Yesterday we went to the Michigan Renaissance Festival, which always pleases. They actually dropped the price of the turkey legs, so I was able to stuff myself silly on smoked turkey and Woodchuck ciders. I just wish I had enough room for soup in a bread bowl. Ah well. I can get that at Panera if I really want some.
Today was a slow day at work, and I strained my arms carrying home heavy groceries. But it will be worth it. I'm making vegetable soup, and am quite eager for it to be finished. Just wish I had snagged a turkey leg to bring home to pop in the soup! Then it'd be really tasty!
